Breakfast available and is only 540 yen. It was OK but does reflect the low price. Room excellent, only one stop from Kyoto station, easy to get anywhere, walking distance to lots restaurants. Hotel has self service laundry where a load to wash/dry will cost 600 yen.

Pro: clean, quiet, spacious for a japanese hotel, excellent water pressure, free flow of lots of the amenities, willing to help with restaurant reservations. Cons: While the service was generally good , here are a few points for improvement. 1. The signage for the hotel could be better so 1st time visitors can easily spot it. 2. The front door... More

We found this a very convenient and comfortable place to stay for four days in Kyoto. Citadines Is one underground station away from the main railway station. There are plenty of convenience stores and restaurants nearby. We used a restaurant list provided by the hotel and were not disappointed with the ones we chose. There are unlimited attractions to choose... More

We have stayed in Citadines in France and London and like the places for the relatively spacious modern studios equiped with a kitchen. Once we found out there was a Citadines in Kyoto, we did not search any longer and booked a studio straight away. At the time of booking, we indicated, we would like to have streetview and a... We were in Japan for a month on our honeymoon, and this is probably the best hotel we stayed at. The room is HUGE, the room has every facility you can imagine (from a nice kitchenette to a shoe horn), the room was spot clean and my wife just loved the bath that was very big. The location is extremely... More

We travelled to Kyoto with our 2yo triplets for their first holiday. The staff at the Kyoto Citadel could not have been kinder, nor more accomodating. The hotel we had stayed at before we had children and it is just wonderful. Central to lots of great eateries, transport, interesting sights. Thank you Citadines Kyoto for all your help and for... The building is a leisurely 20 minute stroll from Kyoto station and is well positioned for site seeing, access to transport etc. We had to change our dates the week before we left and apart from an extra charge to cover our weekend stay all went well and we registered quickly. Rooms are extremely clean, well designed, light and more... More

A reasonably priced option in Kyoto. Offers very good value for families given the space available an option to cook in the rooms (though not something we did). Very handy to the metro station - one stop from main station (note there is no lift and you will have to carry your luggage up the stairs). Staff very pleasant and... More

Staying in Shimogyo-ku

Neighbourhood Profile
Shimogyo-ku
Shimogyo-ku is centered around the busy train hub, Kyoto Station. A nexus for commerce, shopping, dining, and hotels, the Shimogyo-ku area is infused with tourists and local business travelers, making it a competitive location for ever-new commercial structures. The shops and cafes here are chic and trendy, as a result, with many recognizable chains. Commuters flood the Shimogyo-ku area twice a day, and with Kyoto Station itself being a modern mega-complex and an architectural marvel, this neighborhood is one of the most contemporary and energetic areas that the city has to offer. Buildings here look futuristic, and huge department stores, shopping arcades, and public meeting spaces provide every possible convenience. It is also nearly the only place in Kyoto where rooftop dining and socializing is available, completing its modern tone.
