Stayed here for 3 nights as part of our honeymoon to Japan. Lovely property and very easy to find (Exit 3 from Gojo Station subway, 1 stop from Kyoto). Although it is in a quiet area of town there are shops near by such as 7/11 which is very handy. Staff were very friendly with excellent level of English. We...

Having come from Hotel Icon in HK was always going to be hard for any hotel to follow but the Citadines is clean, very well located and reasonably priced. We had 2 studio rooms, pretty small but well equipped.

Two friends and I stayed here (2 separate rooms) for 10 nights at the end of November while visiting Kyoto during the fall foliage season. I loved many things about it: friendly and professional staff, spacious room, comfortable bed, deep tub to soak in, Toto toilet (then again, they're everywhere!), kitchenette (which I didn't use much as we ate out...

Having stayed at the Citadines in Melbourne, I knew the newer venues were good value. We stayed for three days. The venue was close to a supermarket, McDonald's and some food outlets and one stop by subway to Kyoto station. The room was a good size and clean. The bathroom was small as expected for a Japanese hotel. We had...

Easy to get to, right next to Gojo subway exit. We booked a double premier, and were shown one at the front of the hotel. Very noisy from traffic on the main road right outside. No way you would sit out on the balcony. When we asked for somewhere quieter, we were shown to an equivalent twin at the back...

Stayed for three nights. Not much else to add from all the other reviews. Location of hotel was very good in some aspects: 1 subway stop from Kyoto station, and a convenient 5 minutes walk from either Gojo station or the local bus routes. You are not terribly close to the Gion area, but a one stop subway ride away...

2nd time here. The service standards have improved tremendously from the last time. Good sized rooms. Quiet neighborhood with great access via bus or the subway. Staffs were very helpful with helping us to forward our luggage and reserve bus tickets. Would definitely stay here again.

We stayed at the Citadines for 2 nights in a studio double room. The room itself was very clean and well presented. It had a small kitchenette which was handy and the bed was quite comfortable. Bathroom although a little small (standard in Japan) was clean on arrival and the warm toilet seat was a bonus in the cold winter...

The staff are friendly, have excellent English, and are happy to help. The room itself is small but has a mini-kitchen, and the staff directed us to a nearby supermarket for breakfast (and snack) ingredients we put together ourselves. The location isn't too bad - not near any of the major tourist attractions, but the metro station is right next...

Stayed at Citadines Karasuma-Gojo Kyoto for a night in December and didn't regret with my choice. The room is spacious, clean, well-lighted and pleasant. The room have a small electric stove, toaster, microwave and other basic cooking utensils. The layout of the room is similar to a small studio apartment in the Sydney. The staffs at Citadines were fantastic and...

Staying in Shimogyo-ku

Neighbourhood Profile
Shimogyo-ku
Shimogyo-ku is centered around the busy train hub, Kyoto Station. A nexus for commerce, shopping, dining, and hotels, the Shimogyo-ku area is infused with tourists and local business travelers, making it a competitive location for ever-new commercial structures. The shops and cafes here are chic and trendy, as a result, with many recognizable chains. Commuters flood the Shimogyo-ku area twice a day, and with Kyoto Station itself being a modern mega-complex and an architectural marvel, this neighborhood is one of the most contemporary and energetic areas that the city has to offer. Buildings here look futuristic, and huge department stores, shopping arcades, and public meeting spaces provide every possible convenience. It is also nearly the only place in Kyoto where rooftop dining and socializing is available, completing its modern tone.
