We booked the hotel after reading some great reviews on Tripadvisor and couldn't have been happier. The aparthotel has really well equipped rooms with a small but well equipped kitchen. The room was immaculately clean, with lovely fresh bedding and we liked the sliding screen which allowed you to segregate the bed from the rest of the room; or leave... More

We recently come back from a 4 night stay in Citadines. The room was large compared to our rooms we used in Tokyo which was nice. The room came with a small functional kitchen and a fast internet, both came very handy during our stay. The front office helped us with all the local maps and gave us useful transportation... More

Stayed here three nights during the cherry blossom season in April - so beautiful and colourful. Exactly the same room set up as our Citadines Tokyo apartment. Everything you need, free safe in the room, adaptors readily available at reception, free wifi everywhere, amazing toilet facilities and friendly and helpful staff. Breakfast OK but nothing special. A very convenient, reasonably... More

I recently stayed at the Citadines Karasuma-Gojo Kyoto hotel in Kyoto and absolutely loved it. My family and I had booked two rooms, one double for my parents, and one with 2 twin beds for my husband, my 21 month old son and I. We took the Shinkansen from shinagawa to Kyoto. The easiest and cheapest way for us to... More

We stayed for 3 nights in one of the double studio rooms. The room was a lot bigger than most, and had a quite well equipped kitchenette which was really handy as we like to eat breakfast in the room. There was a 7-11 on the other side of the road for supplies, and we brought bakery things in. There... More

The hotel was very conveniently located next to the subway station and bus stops. It was easy to get to all the attractions. There is 7/11 across the street and a supermarket in the same block (had good fruits and vegetables). Room was good size, well equipped and very clean. Breakfast is cheap and conveniently served downstairs, so it's ok... More

Central to subway station, restaurants, shopping. Staff speak great English. Their restaurant recommendations were fantastic food, not overpriced. Extremely clean. Good use of space. Very nice laundry on the ground level: 200 y to wash, 100 y to dry, and clothes came out great. Would get breakfast somewhere else. McDonald's at the corner, 7-11 across the street. Small but good... Staying in Shimogyo-ku

Neighbourhood Profile
Shimogyo-ku
Shimogyo-ku is centered around the busy train hub, Kyoto Station. A nexus for commerce, shopping, dining, and hotels, the Shimogyo-ku area is infused with tourists and local business travelers, making it a competitive location for ever-new commercial structures. The shops and cafes here are chic and trendy, as a result, with many recognizable chains. Commuters flood the Shimogyo-ku area twice a day, and with Kyoto Station itself being a modern mega-complex and an architectural marvel, this neighborhood is one of the most contemporary and energetic areas that the city has to offer. Buildings here look futuristic, and huge department stores, shopping arcades, and public meeting spaces provide every possible convenience. It is also nearly the only place in Kyoto where rooftop dining and socializing is available, completing its modern tone.
