The rooms aren't very spacious and there isn't much window space. I would say it's alright but not the best. The toilet roll however smells really nice and it isn't standard white toilet roll. My dad really enjoyed the coffee they offer in the rooms, however the location is spectacular as its near the main stream of Kawaramachi where there...

The location is very convenient, being half an block off the major pedestrian mall. Rooms are medium size by Japanese standards, but ours lacked a large window to look out of, so it was quite dark and confining. Bathrooms were spotless and in good condition. Staff are friendly and very helpful. Breakfast is based upon the Japanese farm-to-table restaurant in...

It's located very close to two metro stations (Tozai Line), Nishiki Market and many modern shops. Convenient for sightseeing. The staffs are professional. The room is very clean. It offers real Japanese breakfast. We will definitely come again.

I spent 4 nights here and everything was quite good except for the heating situation. I personally like a cold room when I sleep and my room was cold. The heating situation is a little strange as you cannot control the temperature in your room. All you can do is turn it off. I had to turn mine off as...

We recently spent 11 nights here to celebrate our wedding anniversary, and could not have chosen a better hotel. The location is perfect for sightseeing, catching public transport, dining out and shopping. The hotel staff was incredibly helpful and really helped make our holiday a memorable one. No request was too difficult for them. Our room was comfortable and well...

Both my my mum and I enjoyed our three day stay at hotel vista premio Kyoto tremendously. We stayed in the superior twin room; both the room and bathroom were clean and spacious. Breakfast, consisting of traditional Kyoto dishes and some western selection, was delicious and something we both looked forward to every morning. Popular restaurants in Kyoto require advance...

Hotel Vista Premio Kyoto is a small hotel with an excellent location. It's a little way off the main busy street but within walking distance of just about all the good shops and restaurants. It has a charming staff though not very good with their English. The rooms are big enough and comfortable. Rates are moderate.

Good location for shopping but about 4 kms from Kyoto station. I booked two rooms for three people. Our bed was small and up against a wall. Made it difficult for getting in and out of bed. Our travelling partner had a bigger bed and was in the middle of what appeared to be a bigger room. We had a...

Stayed here for 3 nights during the recent gorgeous autumn season, a lovely time to see Kyoto. This hotel is located in 'central' Kyoto which is a section in the central northeast of the town just northwest of the famous Gion District and loaded with shopping and restaurants and bars near the Kawaramachi Sanyo bus stop, about 10-15 minute cab...

Although this is a perfect hotel to explore Kyoto, you would be best advised to hire a guide for a day. This pays dividends. The hotel room was well appointed and the buffet breakfast was comprehensive. If travelling to Kyoto by train it is best to get a taxi from the station and the hotel is 50 yards from the...

Staying in Shinkyogoku Shopping District

Neighbourhood Profile
Shinkyogoku Shopping District
Those who delight in shopping and cuisine will find themselves at home in Shinkyogoku. Lauded and visited by locals for its Nishiki Market, where baskets of fragrant spices, dried fish, and just-fried foods are piled high along the snaking streets of its enclosed outdoor shopping spaces, Shinkyogoku is not only a hub for fresh fare, but also for fast fashion fixes. Trends-in-the-making can be spotted in the tall windows of several one-of-a-kind stores featuring local labels and modish boutiques. Arcades, outdoor concert spaces, mega department stores, and small, enchanting cafes have sprung up to accommodate the increasing traffic. Whether looking for souvenirs and kitsch on Shinkyogoku Street, or scoping out the massive food court and restaurant floor at Takashimaya Department store, there's something for every wallet or purse, and a buyer for every item.
