I found the room to be very small and poorly laid out, making it impossible to operate from a suitcase. The are no drawers, so nowhere to unpack anything. Shower had good water pressure. Breakfast was pretty average. Staff were friendly and helpful.

Our two day Kyoto stay was delightful - this hotel was a perfect landing place. Many of the reviews are accurate about room size and hotel amenities but it was an altogether fine place to sleep and prepare for more adventures in Kyoto! Great location, attentive staff, and quiet respite from the city's hubbub. Highly recommend this hotel.

This is a nice hotel, close to everything in fact, but price is high, though hotel is high enough to see Kyoto at night nicely. I can see subway station adjacent, Japanese night life from the hotel and neat and cleanliness Japanese way. One can get free wifi everywhere inside the hotel

The reviews that propels this hotel to the top of the rankings are a mystery. That ranking is not deserved! That does not mean that this is a bad hotel. On the contrary it is quite satisfactory and if it were half the price it would be awesome. However it fails to live up to "luxury" categorization. It is in...

Enjoyed a two night stay here recently. It is very central being only a short walk from restaurants, shops, the river and many of the major tourist sights. It's also close to public transport. The hotel is modern and there is wonderful, quirky modern art scattered throughout the building. The breakfast buffet has a wide choice and is of high...

It's a great hotel that is very close to the subway station and surrounded by shops and restaurants just off the main street. We spent 2 nights at the hotel and it was our second stop in Japan. Since our first stop was in Hakone and the rooms were extremely spacious in our last hotel, I was rather surprised when...

I have spent 2 nights in this hotel during my trip to Kyoto in April 2016. This hotel is really amazing, very modern and spacious! The rooms offer a lot of space for Japan, and the bathroom was stunning, I especially loved the shower which is in a separate room. I want to have this kind of shower at home!...

We got on the underground to get from Kyoto station to the hotel. This was our first experience with the underground and once we worked out how much to pay it was easy. Kyoto station is huge with many different levels. The hotel is in a great location near the shops, river and the Gion area. We walked to almost...

The location was very convenient. The room was small and comfortable, except that the humidity was too low (around 50% or less). There was a humidifier in the room, but it did not help much. The buffet breakfast was simple. Coin-laundromat in the 2nd floor was extremely helpful.

You must minimize your movements in this room! Two twin beds were abutted to one another with about 15" between the foot of the beds and the wall. One side of one of the beds was about 8" from the bathroom wall. Duvets are quite warm, so you may want to just sleep with the sheet on top of you....

Staying in City Center

Neighbourhood Profile
City Center
No district of Kyoto is quite as representative of its blended nature as the City Center. By day, the covered shopping arcades along Kawaramachi and Shijo Street bring deal hunters and fashionistas out in droves to peruse the clothing, accessories, gifts, and home goods offerings. When it grows dark, the City Center is a hip spot for nightlife, alive with bars and clubs. A trendy culinary scene and an abundance of local watering holes give the Center its youthful vibrancy. In contrast, the quieter areas of the City Center seem a world away, shielded from noise by the foliage of the public gardens and zen spaces surrounding the area's shrines, castles, and the Imperial Palace. These ancient and sacred spots are seamlessly folded into the scenery, providing a respite from the energy of the city, but close enough to put you directly back onto the pulse of the city when you're ready.
