The staff are helpful and friendly and the manager (Brett?) leads well. There are comments here about the size of the rooms. When you book you need to check what size room you will get and consider if it is enough space for you. The room I had is 19m and just ok for one person and a suitcase. There...

The hotel is perfectly located for our purpose as first time visitors in Kyoto. The hotel staff were very friendly and helped us with suggestions on our 2 day visit. Breakfast buffet was good, however a little pricey compared to the selection.

The hotel is located close to buses and subway. Staff is friendly and ready to adwise with any questions you have. By booking directly from hotel you may get the breakfast for free and it is really worth of it. There is a large shoppingmall just over the road.

Excellent hotel with a great, central location in Kyoto! The service was tip top and they helped us with several restaurant recommendations as well as guiding us around the city. The breakfast buffet is quite complete and worth it if you don't want to explore for breakfast. Nice installations as well!

Good hotel, comfortable, quiet and functional room, though nothing fancy. Location is excellent not far from bus stops, walking distance to the river and restaurants. Breakfast is ok but served in the bakery next door.

Excellent ,busy hotel in great central location . Busy hotel used by tour groups which leads to a short q for breakfast...good breakfast though to keep you going , excellent location ,close to many attractions and shops. Don't expect Kyoto to be a total museum, it is a modern city witl many ancient buildings ,neighbourhoods m festivals and traditions

loved it. very sleek and modern in design, rooms carefully laid out, ingenuous ways to provide and display every amenity in very small spaces without feeling crowded, amazing!! plumbing fixtures, many sleek brushed stainless knobs and buttons for the w.c.

Great hotel, well placed for walking into the historical area over the bridge. Lots of restaurants, Okonomiyaki places, boulangerie (really) nearby. Good quality rooms, excellent Japanese and Western breakfast.

Fab location .... Caught a cab from Kyoto Station for JPY1,300. Showed cabbie the address in Japanese and we were dropped off 10 mins later. 5 mins walk to the Keihan Sanjo station and 10 mins to the City Hall subway. We train-ed it to Fushimi Inari, Kinkaku and Arashiyama. Reception was excellent with helping us figure out the routes....

We stayed 4 nights and had 2 rooms, with 3 adults and 2 kids. The hotel is located in an amazing location, with 3 train stations (various lines) within walking distance. Shopping and food choices were endless, which is very convenient as the kids could go back to the hotels while some of the adults did shopping nearby. Staff were...

Staying in City Center

Neighbourhood Profile
City Center
No district of Kyoto is quite as representative of its blended nature as the City Center. By day, the covered shopping arcades along Kawaramachi and Shijo Street bring deal hunters and fashionistas out in droves to peruse the clothing, accessories, gifts, and home goods offerings. When it grows dark, the City Center is a hip spot for nightlife, alive with bars and clubs. A trendy culinary scene and an abundance of local watering holes give the Center its youthful vibrancy. In contrast, the quieter areas of the City Center seem a world away, shielded from noise by the foliage of the public gardens and zen spaces surrounding the area's shrines, castles, and the Imperial Palace. These ancient and sacred spots are seamlessly folded into the scenery, providing a respite from the energy of the city, but close enough to put you directly back onto the pulse of the city when you're ready.
