We are here now -- getting ready to leave after two nights in the hotel. The staff is very nice. The rooms are average but fine. We are here during Cherry blossom time with adult son who made reservations at last minute and found more...More
We visited Kyoto during the Cherry Blossom season, so the availability of hotels in town was limited and prices were on high since it was peak season, which is how we ended up at Tokyu.
Tokyu Hotel has a lot of positive features:
My wife and I travelled to Kyoto durning the peak Cherry blossom viewing season and booked via Expedia.com. Our hotel options were very limited and we choose this one at about 500 USD per night.

I loved the hotel, it was more beautiful than I could have imagined and all the attractions around it made it non stop fun. I adored all of the small mom and pop type resturaunts and the service was spectacular! I highly reccomend going.

Shimogyo-ku is centered around the busy train hub, Kyoto Station. A nexus for commerce, shopping, dining, and hotels, the Shimogyo-ku area is infused with tourists and local business travelers, making it a competitive location for ever-new commercial structures. The shops and cafes here are chic and trendy, as a result, with many recognizable chains. Commuters flood the Shimogyo-ku area twice a day, and
with Kyoto Station itself being a modern mega-complex and an architectural marvel, this neighborhood is one of the most contemporary and energetic areas that the city has to offer. Buildings here look futuristic, and huge department stores, shopping arcades, and public meeting spaces provide every possible convenience. It is also nearly the only place in Kyoto where rooftop dining and socializing is available, completing its modern tone.

This is a beautiful hotel, with a great location and free shuttle to the train station. They do have air conditioning, but depending when you visit, you may not need it. Each room does have it's own bathroom and hair dryer. Kyoto is a fabulous place to visit, especially during the fall and the spring. Have a great visit.

I didn't find anything about this hotel that great. Location was average I would recommend staying by train station to get around a lot easier. Rooms at this hotel had hard beds , stained and cigarette burned carpets. Foyer was 5 star but rooms were 3 star. I would not stay here again.
Hope this helps.
