This is my first visit to kyoto. Booked this hotel last minute and surprisingly I'm very satisfy with this hotel. The location is super good with access to many attraction place with public transport (especially bus). Omiya station is within 5-6 mins walking distance from the hotel. Travel to Kawaramachi Shopping area/Nishiki market thru bus is just 5-6 stops from...

Two persons said semi double bed, bed is quite small for two persons ( we are two girls, still very small bed for us).I booked very late, didn't know it's golden week holiday...

To be honest, don't know this hotel before I arrive. Arranged by tour agent in Penang. First impression- front office staff was friendly and helpful as they can be without speaking English fluently. The twin room is small and room facilities quite old. Believe it or not the room key is still a physical key. So if you and your...

A little drab. Bad smell in corridors. By far the most expensive hotel we stayed in in Japan. Good location, near train station. Cafes restaurants and supermarket close to the hotal. Coin operated laundry. Staff were helpful.

Three nights stay in ARK Kyoto. The price was economical. Hotel was located near two train systems (Arashiyama honsen(京福電氣鐵道嵐山本線) & Hankyu railway(京阪特急線)) with solely 2 minutes walk to train station (大宮站 & 四条大宮站). Only two stops away from kawaramachi (京都河原町站). Easily accessible. Frontdesk staff was able to speak in English & Mandarin. The room was clean and tidy. Size was...

I really would like to write a good review for this hotel but despite its good location and the extremely helpful and friendly desk staff, there are a number of issues that bring it back to only an average rating. First the positives. It is in a great location with many restaurants, supermarkets and convenience stores nearby. You can catch...

Close to Shijo-Omiya Station, around a 1-minute walk, if you are going to Arashiyama (no transfers required). Close to Omiya Station, around a 2-minute walk, if you are going to Gion (only two stops away, no transfers required). Far from Kyoto Station but only a bus ride away (we rode bus route 206). Bus stop to Kyoto Station is a...

This is a good 3 star hotel. Rooms are a bit outdated, but very clean. Nice toilettery products to use. Fresh towels every day, but proper cleaning just for one day (we stayed for five nights). No exprience about the breakfast, we didn't took it since there is so many cafes around the city for reasonable price. + the location;...

Staying in City Center

Neighbourhood Profile
City Center
No district of Kyoto is quite as representative of its blended nature as the City Center. By day, the covered shopping arcades along Kawaramachi and Shijo Street bring deal hunters and fashionistas out in droves to peruse the clothing, accessories, gifts, and home goods offerings. When it grows dark, the City Center is a hip spot for nightlife, alive with bars and clubs. A trendy culinary scene and an abundance of local watering holes give the Center its youthful vibrancy. In contrast, the quieter areas of the City Center seem a world away, shielded from noise by the foliage of the public gardens and zen spaces surrounding the area's shrines, castles, and the Imperial Palace. These ancient and sacred spots are seamlessly folded into the scenery, providing a respite from the energy of the city, but close enough to put you directly back onto the pulse of the city when you're ready.
