The hotel offers free bikes but you have to reserve in advance. Otherwise rent around the corner for 1000¥ 24h. Supermarket around the corner. 40 min bike to golden temple. Parking space 1600¥ 24h. Fine beds. Good price quality. Would go here again

The Hearton Hotel is located right off of the metro line, near the main transfer station between the two lines in Kyoto. This makes it easy to get around the city. There are not that many restaurants nearby, but the access to the metro makes up for that. There are several convenience stores nearby that are good for snacks or...

Old hotel that needs a makeover as it has a 90s look and feel! Apart from that the central location is good and close to a metro station. The breakfast has the basics but nothing more. The staff is friendly and helpful. Small rooms and bathrooms as expected so I was not disappointed. If I was going to kyoto again...

Location is great, close to Karasuma Oike station, which is where the 2 subway lines intersect. A little bit dated, but clean, quiet and (surprisingly) with decent english speakers at the reception. No complaints, would stay again.

Two points are given for cleanliness and having English tea bags, other than that I would never stay here again. Rooms are minuscule, depressingly so. I now know what a prison cell is like. Beds are tiny to fit the rooms. Beds are hard and pillows must be as old as the hotel. You need to book the bikes to...

Stayed at the Hearton Hotel Kyoto April 2017 for 2 x nights. The hotel is in a good location close to the subway, there are lots of shop and restaurants within the vicinity, Gion area about 20 minute walk. The staff were very helpful and recommended places to eat. The room was very clean and modern, if a little cramped...

The hotel was in a good location right down from the train station. The breakfast buffet was also good however the beds... the beds were very stiff, i probably woke up five or six times through the night.

Three of us stayed here and had no problems at all. The staff were helpful and spoke good english, the rooms were kept very tidy & clean, and the facilities were quite modern. We had in-room massages which were also pretty good.

Had a double room special which almost broke our backs (bad mattress). We asked(and paid) for an upgrade to 2 singles and got a great room! Hotel reception is awesome and helpful. Convenient located near subway and breakfast is tasty. I would come here again.

Staying in City Center

Neighbourhood Profile
City Center
No district of Kyoto is quite as representative of its blended nature as the City Center. By day, the covered shopping arcades along Kawaramachi and Shijo Street bring deal hunters and fashionistas out in droves to peruse the clothing, accessories, gifts, and home goods offerings. When it grows dark, the City Center is a hip spot for nightlife, alive with bars and clubs. A trendy culinary scene and an abundance of local watering holes give the Center its youthful vibrancy. In contrast, the quieter areas of the City Center seem a world away, shielded from noise by the foliage of the public gardens and zen spaces surrounding the area's shrines, castles, and the Imperial Palace. These ancient and sacred spots are seamlessly folded into the scenery, providing a respite from the energy of the city, but close enough to put you directly back onto the pulse of the city when you're ready.
