Room was quite big related to Kyoto hotels. We choose a twin room, it's big enough if you ever stay in Kyoto. Location is good, the commercial zone is close, there is even a supermarket in south-east direction in 400 meters. we even go to Kiyomizu-dera and Jishō-Ji by walk from hotel for street view! Also Ichizawa Shinzaburo Hanpu is... More

Very close proximity to all we wanted to see. Ease of shopping and large variety of eateries nearby. Staff very friendly and helpful. We arrived early to check in and they kindly had a very good system to tag and keep our bags for us while we discovered what was available in the immediate area.

Stayed here to be closer to the river, to see Kanikakuni ritual the next morning. The Hotel is a short walk from the subway station, and the main commercial area. The rooms were nice and new. Staffs were friendly and helpful! We'll definitely return here for our next Kyoto stay!

Very comfortable hotel in a convenient location 5 mins walk from Sanjo Station but not really in the best area. 2 convenience stores next door. Bus terminal next to subway. Also the main river is next to the station. Room is a good size with twin beds. Bathroom a little tight. Bed and pillows comfy. Best sleep we had in... More

A simple, clean hotel. Room was quite big compared to the usual Japanes rooms. We chose a twin room and beds were large and comfortable. Price very good. Western breakfast was basic but with all you need (and with a good Italian coffee machine!).

Within walking distance to bs stop to Kiyomizu Dera, SanjoKeihan and Sanjo Stations, Gion, Pontocho Alley, Nishiki Market, and many shops and restaurants!

I read through most of Tripadvisor and booking.com's reviews before staying here so I had a good idea of the sort of place I was staying up. Here's a summary: - Price: Compared to other hotel prices and quality, this was a good deal. However compared to other countries, we felt this was a lot more expensive as the nightly... More

Nice hotel close to station and Gion area. Room was small but very clean and staff were very helpful. Don't expect much from the breakfast, they could improve this. The eggs were not cooked Western style they were very runny and bacon wasn't cooked properly either. There was no fresh fruit available.

Staying in City Center

Neighbourhood Profile
City Center
No district of Kyoto is quite as representative of its blended nature as the City Center. By day, the covered shopping arcades along Kawaramachi and Shijo Street bring deal hunters and fashionistas out in droves to peruse the clothing, accessories, gifts, and home goods offerings. When it grows dark, the City Center is a hip spot for nightlife, alive with bars and clubs. A trendy culinary scene and an abundance of local watering holes give the Center its youthful vibrancy. In contrast, the quieter areas of the City Center seem a world away, shielded from noise by the foliage of the public gardens and zen spaces surrounding the area's shrines, castles, and the Imperial Palace. These ancient and sacred spots are seamlessly folded into the scenery, providing a respite from the energy of the city, but close enough to put you directly back onto the pulse of the city when you're ready.
