Located across the street from the main train and bus station along with many shops and restaurant, it is easy to find. Not too many attractions, but the subway is a few minutes walk from the hotel. Room was a triple with very limited space. Wifi is on and off. Skip the restaurants in the hotel, very overpriced, and get...

Some reviewers say that this hotel room is not clean, in my case, the room was clean and the size of the room was average compared to other Kyoto hotels of the same grade. This hotel is not business hotel, but regarding entertainment, it is not satisfactory.Instead, next to the hotel, there is a big shopping mall, Avanti, which has many...

This hotel was in a convenient location but lacked in the usual exceptional customer service that is expected of the Japanese hospitality industry. They had several greeters but only two people working at the reception desk so the check-in/check out line was long. They will charge you $20/hour for checking in early. You have to leave your key at the...

We found this hotel to be in a good location and only minutes from the station. The room was not small by Japanese standards as I think the people who have commented on this have never stayed in a APA hotel. The breakfast was adequate and had plenty of choice for our needs. The hotel what we saw of it was clean...

The staff was very friendly and accommodating and allowed us to leave our luggage before check-in. The rooms were a good size for Japanese hotel rooms and the bathroom amenities were very clean & spacious. My husband loved this hotel and how close it was to the station.

When you're in a city like Kyoto all you need is a place to sleep and the Keihan Hotel does just fine. For the price you can't beat the location next to Kyoto Station, and if you are hungry there are lots of dining options on-site and in the adjacent department store Avanti, and a 7-11 convenience store with ATM....

The rooms are small, which is normal for Japan. My wife, daughter and I all squeezed into one room with 3 twin beds. Two of the beds were extra firm, but the third felt like a board, so we used it to open our suitcases and my wife and I shared one twin bed. If not for the 3rd bed,...

One thing going for this hotel is the proximity to the railway station, there's very little else! The foyer is an eyesore, with dingy pink carpet, and almost no sitting area. The rooms are tiny; our double room had an enormous king size bed, and no room to move around. There was no space to put two average sized cases,...

I was travelling with my family of 3. Hotel is 5 mins walk from the Kyoto Station. Easy access to shopping centres and also eateries. Hotel room size is a bit small for travellers with many luggages though. Price is reasonable.

Really bad experience on our first day of stay itself. While checking in the receptionist did not ask us if we would like to have a non smoking room and we ended up in a smoking room with really strong smell. Being a first timer in Japan, we did not know that you need to specify this at the beginning...

Staying in Southern Kyoto

Neighbourhood Profile
Southern Kyoto
Southern Kyoto has a reserved air. Though the Fushimi Inari Shrine is one of Kyoto's major tourist attractions, the surrounding nature, parks, gardens, temples, and shrines provide less-visited spaces for strolling and reflection. The Fushimi Inari Shrine itself is made up of 32,000 sub-shrines, and the mountain they are dotted across beckons hikers, picnickers, and lovers of the outdoors. Many of the mountain's off-set paths aren't frequented by tourists, and the mountain's serenity can be enjoyed at a leisurely pace. Southern Kyoto is the place to enjoy being outside, and to pay your respects to the ancient architecture and gods of the land that are celebrated here.
