For the price, this place was pretty good. I got a private room for about $40. And the bathroom in shared. The only thing is that the walls are thin and you can hear other people through them. Hard to sleep at times. The employees are pretty friendly and help you plan out what you want to see, which I... More

Perfect spot in Kyoto, close to main several important temples, bus lines, train lines, grocery stores, & the Gion. I had a single Japanese-style room, with futon on the floor. The bathrooms were down 2 flights of stairs. It never seemed crowded. Hair dryers provided. Fully equipped kitchen.

Book this for a last minute trip to Kyoto. Weekends tend to be a lot more expensive. It's in a decent location, reachable by bus from the centre, and quietly tucked down a side street. Clean, and comfortable rooms. The bathrooms are a little bit of a walk away if you're staying top floor. Staff were fantastic, and super helpful.

On a last minute trip to Kyoto, found that I had unwisely chosen to come when everyone else in the world seemed to be in town to view the autumn leaves and found myself without a place to stay. I randomly contacted various guesthouses which - no surprise - were all completely full. Gojo was one of them. Initially they... More

We had a wonderful stay at Gojo Guesthouse Annex! The traditional Japanese tatami double room was with it's little zen front yard and it's interior design more than comfortable and relaxing. The staff was really friendly and always there to help us, we could easily communicate in English. With the relatively low price and the unique atmosphere the Gojo Guesthouse... More

I felt very comfortable at the Gojo Annex. It is a traditional looking house. I had a room with a comfortable bed and a chair to sit on. The sitting room is done in retro 70s style, with a record player. The two people I met working there were very nice and spoke English well. It felt like staying in... More

Special experience to stay at traditional Japanese-style bedroom. We stayed at family room with 4 pax, it was quite packed with limited space after we moved in our luggage, we learnt to set-up Japanese Futon by our own, it was fun. Overall, the hostel is clean & tidy, the staffs are helpful & friendly to assist us. They provide a... More

Our family of 4 stayed at Gojo Annex for 4 night and it was a great base for us in Kyoto. The staff and other guests were full of friendly advice and their tips were really useful. Great place, if your looking for something adorable. Very clean authentic Japanese house. Excellent location for exploring Kyoto. Most importantly though, the staff was great, helpful, knowledgable, and friendly. I recommend picking up a day bus pass at the reception desk, and stopping at the near by 3232 caffe for a great espresso, as a morning routine.
