Latest addition of the Marriott family in Kuala Lumpur is the Fairfield by Marriott Jalan Pahang.

Booked a room as soon as its available and the opening date was 2 days before Christmas.

Send a chat message on Marriott Bonvoy apps prior to check in to enquire on upgrade opportunity for my lowly Gold status and was replied a standard template.

The hotel is easily accessible by KL Monorail as the Chow Kat station is nearby. Parking is rather limited, in front of the hotel.

During check in was greeted by the friendly Front Office Manager, Gen and Front Office crew, Jasmine.

While I didn't put too much expectations on the room upgrade, at least they could do was to offer a room with desirable view.

But what I initially got was a room facing the Grand Seasons block thru a tiny window. I returned to the lobby to request for another room and Jasmine obliged. I was then provided Room 1209 which has better "expansive view of the City" as published.

The room itself was good, compact and simple as expected from Select category. Although, Four Points Chinatown offers a bit more storage space.

Do take note that in the elavator, key card was not required to access the guest room floors - if that matters to you.

Being a new property, i did a short hotel tour as there's not much to cover. There's a huge Surau (Muslim Prayer hall) on the top floor (Floor S). The hotel's restaurant, "Lesung" is on 2nd floor while gym on the 1st. There's Meeting Rooms available as well on each floors.

By the time of writing, the rate for Standard Room was RM220+ while the slightly-larger Deluxe Room was RM400+ which I think was a bit too much for a Fairfield. With Hilton Garden Inn and AC Hotel reopening soon nearby, I'm still a bit sceptical about the pricing.

Dear kakacrackr, Thank you for choosing Fairfield by Marriott for your recent visit and it is definitely a pat on the back to Gen and Jasmine. Rest assured that all our guests are valuable to us but as a brand new hotel, we’ve limited the availability of our guest rooms at the moment thus may not have met your special requests upon check in. We hope that this will not mar your stay experience at Fairfield by Marriott. Fairfield Regards, Genevieve Willie Front Office Manager

This is the first Fairfield brand in West Malaysia, as well as my first time staying at this hotel. It is a brand new building and strategically located nearby the Chow Kit Monorail station.

Warm welcome by the Front Office Manager, Ms. Genevieve. The check in was smooth and quick.

The room has been upgraded to Deluxe Room, due to the Platinum status. I am quite surprise because the room layout is different from the picture shown on the official website.

The room is spacious and new, with a good city and KLCC view. The bathroom is provided with full amenities, I always love the twin basin bathroom. The bathtub for this room is small for an adult.

Lesung is the only restaurant in this hotel. Free breakfast was given during this stay and the breakfast is in buffet style, not much selection but enough for a breakfast. The restaurant has both indoor and outdoor seats.

This hotel comes with a Muslim Prayers' Room on 14th floor, a Meeting Room, Gym Room and Laundry Room on 2nd floor. No swimming pool and Executive Lounge. The staff are helpful and kind.

Soundproofing is the only weak point for this hotel. The noise from corridor, door opening and closing and even the doorbell from other room can clearly heard (happening all day). There is a restaurant located opposite the hotel and the music played by the restaurant is annoying too (happening between 8pm to 12midnight). Another noise is from the street racing (happening 1am to 3am).

Some corner in the room is dusty. The housekeeping should improve their efforts in ensure the cleanliness of the room.

Dear Derrickee1010, Thank you for taking the time to post your review on TripAdvisor on your recent visit. We appreciate your compliments about our spacious room, the good view, the setup of our rooms and amenities. We are happy to hear that Genevieve and our team members took great care of you. We will be sure to share your kind words with them. Thank you for your honest feedbacks on the soundproofing of our rooms and we will put this as a remedial work that our brand-new hotel may need. Maintaining a clean atmosphere within our guest rooms and common areas is important and has been share with our Housekeeping Leaders to ensure this is an isolated incident. My hope is the next time you are in the area; you will give us another chance to provide the guest experience we strive to deliver. Fairfield regards, Genevieve Willie Front Office Manager

We decided to stay extra night and try out the newly opened hotel around the city centre. We drove 2 rounds around the hotel because we couldn't find a parking, it was quite confusing as there was no mention on where to park at the hotel. Apparently, Fairfield has automated mechanical parking system located at the front of the hotel. There wasn't a clear sign of this and customer wouldn't have known this easily.
Upon checking in, it took longer time compared to other hotel. Although I appreciate the receptionist being kind in trying to explain everything in details, but I think it is better to read the customer first, for frequent travellers, it is not necessary to briefed too much as though we've never stayed at hotel before. On the side note, normally we would get a complimentary room upgrade for platinum & titanium member, although there is available corner or larger rooms on our day of arrival, but we weren't given a room upgrade. We decided to gave it a pass instead of querying since we wouldn't want to take a longer time checking in.
As we travelled with small children, we were surprised only to know upon arrival that there is no pool in the hotel. The room was designed better for business traveller as it is not very kids friendly. For example, the glass surface on the side table can be easily pulled out, the U shaped carpet can easily be shifted and also the toilet doors are sliding kind, not very suitable for young kids, there is no cartoon channels on the TV as well. Quite a boring staycation for family with young kids.
Breakfast wise, quite good, I love the choices, basic but ample selection. The sambal nasi lemak is tasty! On top of that, the staff that prepares my omelette deserves a thumbs up because he did it well, often I get omelette with stringy, unincorporated cheese that didn't melt in the egg well but the one here is made perfectly.
Would I stay here again? Probably yes if I am a solo business traveller. But definitely no if I am traveling with my family.

Dear Arinaazmi, Thank you for your feedbacks and it is with these two-way communications that we at Fairfield by Marriott can improve to serve our guests better. We’ve noted on the suggestions for better placement of signage’s, child friendly recommendations and the information dissemination to guests. At Fairfield by Marriott KL, it is important to us that all guests that are new to our hotel are provided with the rightful information upon arrival in order to take advantage of our services and facilities. Being a brand new hotel, we’ve limited room inventory for a start hence we’ve been ensuring all our guests are getting the rightful room available at all times. We definitely hope this has not marred your expectation of Fairfield by Marriott and we look forward to welcoming you back again. Fairfield Regards, Genevieve Willie Front Office Manager

Stayed for just 1 night in Nov 2023. They had some renovations going on, it was not quiet but the hotel provided earplugs.

We had just a regular king bed room which is not spacious but just enough space for two. The room is so clean and smells fresh. The bed and pillows are so comfortable. There's quite a lot of power plugs and there's a seating area with a table which I love as well.

Not much storage area but that's ok for us. The toilet has a sliding door with railing at the top so there is no stopper/divider from toilet to room but there is, for shower. Glad they provided extra towels so our room won't get wet.

The buffet breakfast at Lesung was OK. Not too much variety but they cover all the basics. The food tastes good as well. However, there are no labels on the food and drinks so we just had to guess. The restaurant is at the same level as the train rail so we get to watch the monorail come and go.

For parking, we managed to get a roadside spot right outside the lobby so we only paid the DBKL rate. There is also a valet service for RM15 per day with multiple entries. The monorail station is just about 5 mins away. There is a food court next to the hotel which serves a variety of food and drinks.

We had a good stay and enjoyed it. Recommended.

Bring your own cutleries if you’re staying with them!

They are charging RM10 for a set of one-time use plastic cutleries.

Hotel said they only provide metal cutleries for free if you order their in-room dining. But the in room dining closes at 11pm.

Not sure why is this being implemented. This should be part of the basic hotel amenities provided.

Disappointed!

The hotel amenities are new but there appears to be something wrong with the soundproofing and sounds from other rooms and in the corridors can be heard throughout the night. Perhaps that’s why there are war plugs provided in every room. It surely that cannot be the solution.

There is no pool and the gym is essentially for the most basic of beginners who walk on the treadmill.

Worst of all are the food and water policies. Each room is limited to 2 bottles of water. Any additional bottle is charged at RM5. That’s a first. But wait till you hear this - room service does not come with cutlery and you may purchase plastic cutlery at RM10 per set. I have never heard similar policies despite being a frequent traveller. And speaking about frequent traveller status Marriott Bonvoy holders can expect little to no perks for their stays.

Service is mediocre at best and room are tiny for KL standards.

A huge letdown.

We have just completed a 5 night stay at the Fairfield by Marriott Kuala Lumpur Jalan Pahang. We wanted to share our review.

The property is located right next to the Chow Kit monorail station. It sits at the intersection of two main roads which helps to make getting into town by Taxi or Grab quite easy. We found ourselves utilizing the monorail quite often and would recommend getting a ‘Tap and Go’ rechargeable metro card to help take advantage of the very affordable metro system. The above mentioned intersection is also the Achilles Heel of the property. Every night we were awakened by the street noise of cars and motorcycles racing up and down these roads. The weekend was by far the worst, we got no sleep at all on the Saturday as the street noise kept us up past 4am. Perhaps this is not as large an issue if you are facing away from the street, but you’d expect the staff would be aware of this issue and avoid placing guests right over the street on the lower levels?

The property itself is well cared for and kept tidy. The gym is located on the 1st floor and is equipped with modern strength training equipment for light workouts. The staff are welcoming and professional. They do recognize elite status though are unapologetic when you are confronted with the fact that the property does not provide the typical breakfast amenity. This is the first and only Fairfield I have ever stayed at that does not offer daily breakfast to all guests much less for elite members as a welcome gift option.

Overall, we were disappointed with our stay here and will be selecting another Bonvoy property for our next visit to Kuala Lumpur.

As part of Marriot, this fairfield also very good on hospitality and quality of sleep.
The location is very strategic near the rapid KL station and easy to get taxi or online ride hailing.

Good for business or looking for decent place to sleep but affordable

Things to be improved is about the breakfast food, too simple and lack of local delicacies. but i think this is due of the low budget hotel style.

Overall recommend to come here - anyway per January 2023, Malaysia just implemented tourist tax which is you will be taxed RM10 per day. unfortunately this cost is not showing up yet on Bonvoy apps during booking.

Hotel just started operating since November 2021, so this hotel is only 3months of age.

Let's get started shell we

Parking:
Parking system is definitely different from the others, might needs some driving skills for the parking. The parking system is very common in Korea, Japan
Complementary for in house guest.

Lobby:
For me I would says almost familiar deco layout with Mercure Kuala Lumpur.
At the moment there's only 1 front desk receptionist for check in...
Front desk reception is very well trained. 👍

Breakfast:
Well too bad I didn't took any breakfast at the hotel, but did have a peeping, deco and layout is nice.

Room:
Since just started operation not long, everything is still new, might be just few floors opens up.
Cleanness is top of it. The sofa is enough for 2 person for a night. The bed is good. Pillow is OK for me.
The only part is washroom.

Other's facilities:
Gym room is nice, big and well up to date.
Bilik surau is at top floor of the hotel building.
Swimming pool too bad not available.

Surrounding areas:
Mostly is Malay community, could try out locally Malay food, just walking distance, but if at night better to drive.

Overall
Nice hotel, thumbs up for the team maintaining it (Siti front desk receptionist) (car park attendance)

I recently just completed a 1 night stay in Fairfield by Marriott Kuala Lumpur to see how they are doing after my previous stay but unfortunately to my surprise they have made a lot of negative changes in order to earn more from the customer.

The check-in was alright but lack of elite recognition for being a Marriott Bonvoy Platinum member where no room upgrades or welcome card given despite there were multiple better room category available upon check-in.

To begin with the negative, they are now removing the complimentary breakfast for Platinum & Titanium elite member which is alright as this was never a published benefit for Elite under Fairfield. Secondly, never in my history of staying at any of the Marriott hotel under Elite, you will be charged for requesting an additional water which is refilled under the glass bottle for RM5?! Thirdly, if you order in room dining, you will need to bear in mind for an additional cost for a one time usage cutlery?

I understand the economic are bad but this is not how you run a hospitality business industry especially to your loyal elite member, how much would it cost you for the water to be refilled?

Unfortunately, there is just nothing to brag about this hotel like the past where they want to charge for every little things. If you are within the same district or area, go with AC by Marriott KL for a better experience where their room is also newly renovated!
