Me any my wife stayed at Avani on our honeymoon back in November 2018. I booked it literally on the last possible day and had some trepidations as it was our first stop on the route but everything turned out great! It is a VERY beautiful place, especially the private beach, which is windy and not really swimmable in November but just as pretty and scenic! Communication in advance was lacking, especially regarding transport but that was my own fault for doing everything in the last minute. On arrival we were greeted by an immensly helpful and kind member of staff whose name unfortunately I don't remember but he was from I believe Mali or Ghana. I'm sad I haven't taken a note of this as I have rarely seen such impeccable and kind service, even for Seychelles standards (which are really high!) and this wonderful man really deserves a raise for his efforts. The hotel itself is just a tad old-fashioned in looks but the rooms are amazing, spacious, full of light and opening up to a great courtyard with a pool. The restaurant (Tamarind) was also a jewel, not super expensive but availng of all landmark local dishes and with a kind Asian staff. Grand Anse is in general a pretty good place to stay on Mahe, as it is not the most popular stretch by far, but there are amazing beaches within close reach to the south and if you're not able or willing to splurge for the (otherwise amazing looking) Hilton, Kempinski or Ephelia, etc, Avani is a really great option. Sunset views are also one of a kind!

This was our first time to Seychelles and Avani has a hand to make our trip happy and memorable.
We hired a car from the airport to the hotel which cost around 40Eur per day and no hassles to get to the hotel.
Once we arrived at the hotel we were offered all the assistance from the gate till we reached our room.
We were lucky to get the room early at 1000,my son was welcomed with Xmas teddy which made his day and ofcourse also the welcome drinks.
The lobby, dining area of elements, gravity, washrooms, spa, swimming pool were neat. The room with the balcony was also well maintained.
I would appreciate the housekeeping fact of the hotel as they are a fabulous team and they are the door anytime fulfilling your requests.
The beach is beautiful and lifeguards are on their toes ensuring the safety of everyone.
As we were in full board we al ways had options to choose between the menu and the buffet served at elements. At times,we preferred alacarte to buffet which did not disappoint us.
Avani also gave us a memorable Xmas whereby my son got gifts, toffees and was also able to see the Santa, take pictures and a wow.
The only areas we did not visit-Spa due high rates and avani kids zone which I think should be developed more for kids atleast until 10years.
Overall, I thank the staff who made our stay wonderful and finally kudos to the management.

The Avani is situated right on the edge of a lovely sweeping beach unfortunately only a small portion of the bay, to the right of the hotel is good for swimming and snorkelling. The facility while comfortable and well maintained, looks tired in places.
The staff really make the Avani, always friendly and eager to ensure you are enjoying your stay. Janette always had a smile and a cheery welcome at breakfast, Waseem and Hari waited on your every need at meal times and Dams will ensure you always have the right drink at the table. Hats off to Joanne for effortlessly coping with all the egg orders, always smiling and never getting mixed up with who she was cooking for.
Food has a distinctive Indian and Creole edge which may not be to everyones liking but the main restaurant is buffet meaning that everyone should be able to find something to their liking. Of the two alternative restaurants (surcharges apply) the pan asian Tamarind Thai has the better choice but service can be very erratic (from very attentive to extremely slow) The newly opened Terrace offers Fish or Meat 5 course banquets and the quality of food/cooking on both are excellent. The location on the roof of the main building, gives lovely views over the bay but take a torch if you have the fish banquet so that you can see the bones, in the romantic mood setting.
Overall a very enjoyable stay.

I feel there is not enough stars to rate the wonderful experience we had at Avani. The service was excellent, out of this world. We have never felt this spoiled and well taken care of. All the facilities were in good working order and the food was tasty. The view was amazing being right on the beach especially with breakfast and the buffet was great. The two kitties wondering around I also enjoyed as I am a huge animal lover and it made it feel more like home. The only thing is there is a lot of mosquitoes so bring some peaceful sleep, which the reception did warn us about beforehand. We definitely recommend this accommodation and to be honest we would even rate them above some of the 5 star hotels we where also at. Thanks again Avani!

The hotel is located on the beach in a beautiful cove on the west side of the island. Tucked to the right side is some of the best snorkeling in the world. The water is warm with great visibility. There are so many fish that it is like swimming in an aquarium. The snorkeling is best when the tide is coming in early in the morning.
The rooms are nice and clean. The grounds are lovely with a large refreshing pool with plenty of lounges throughout. The breakfast buffet has a nice assortment of food. The lunch and dinner buffets are way over priced at $43 usd and the assortment is underwhelming. We enjoyed the ala carte at both Elements and Tamarind that were fairly priced and very tasty. The Overall hotel service is generally very good except the restaurant staff is slow and indifferent. We highly recommend this resort.

We never really felt comfortable in the room: the atmosphere is poor and the floor was very dirty (got slightly better after a first feedback of our side), the toilet in the toilet was bad and not fresh at all. Wifi rather slow and not what I would expect from a 4 star hotel. The overall value for money was under our expectations. Infrastructure seems old and has only minimally been renovated. Food in the restaurants is for lunch is good, for dinner it could be improved, especially since it's not cheap at all

The best thing to say is about the people working there who are very nice, helpful, smiling and full of energy. Everybody is paying attention to the little details to make your stay as agreable as they can. My husband and I would like to recommand this hotel to everybody but we know that the money is important and not everybody can pay for it. We had a half board pension and the breakfast and the evening buffet were specially good. The cleaning and caring of our room was of a quite high standard. The sport facilities and the swimming pool were also of a very good quality. We took buses from there and visited the whole island of Mahe, the botanical garden, the market in Victoria. We also walked around, to Grand Anse.
There was even few times the evening some great music played by different musicians.

Positives: The Avani is a modern hotel with clean, bright, comfortable rooms. The staff are all very friendly and helpful. We were looked after a very pleasant waiter called Wasim. The variety of food at both breakfast and dinner was very good and it was all delicious. There is also a good size swimming pool. The hotel is set in very pleasant gardens which are immaculately kept.

Negatives: The beach is the worst we have ever seen. In fact we were warned not to swim in it all because of the dangerous currents, and masses of sea weed and rocks.
The worst aspect of the hotel was the constant blaring of music. Particularly in the afternoon and evening. There was no chance of being able to relax by the pool side with a book, or have a quiet private dinner. It was impossible to hold a conversation sometimes because the music was so very loud. This is particularly hard for people who wear hearing aids.
The hotel boasts two special restaurants where one is required to book a table. We booked ours at the Terrance Restaurant. Our meal cost about £200 and was not worth the amount we paid. We chose to have a fish meal and the starter was supposed to be a lobster bisque. it was completely tasteless, with no sign of any lobster at all. As it turned out, apart from us, there were just two other customers there. So we didn't bother booking the other restaurant either.
This was our first and last stay at the Avani. Not an hotel we would ever go back to.

Dear footlooseWinchester, Thank you for choosing our resort for your recent stay at Avani Barbarons Seychelles Resort and for taking the time to post this review. We are glad to read that you enjoyed the rooms, modern atmosphere and the genuine service. However, we regret to read that you were not entirely satisfied. We have duly noted your feedback in regards to music around the pool. Based on other guest's and your feedback we decided to stop the music and started this week. Whenever we can we act upon your feedback and this is something we could do right away. The Terrace is a unique outlet in the Seychelles and therefore, we are disappointed to know that you did not find the meal as memorable as it should be. We have shared your feedback with our Executive Chef to ensure that the same experience is not repeated in the future. Once again, we do apologise for the shortcomings during your stay. We hope that we will have a chance to serve you again in the future. Tropical regards, Benjamin

Pros: Stayed for 5 days on full broad at beach front villa (just near the beach) Good place to be. Clear and beautiful beach. Excellent for snorkeling. Good hospitality and service. Has three different restaurants where you can use all the three of your on full board. Food gravity bar was good. Big thanks to Mr. Dams / Avinash / Kavi.

Cons: Aircon did not work properly during the night time. Drinking Water at least by glass should be provided for free and should not be charged (for us it was included) Food variety at the buffet could have been better and more sea food like prawns could have been added to the menu. Desserts was bad.

We stayed in the Avani resort for two nights. Originally, we were only going to stay for one night, so we booked a garden view. Even though we couldn't see the water it was still really peaceful. Luckily, we were able to stay in the same room for the second night.

The room was nice and had good amenities. My only criticism of the room is that the bed was two single beds pushed together to make a double. It's not a big deal but I prefer to sleep on just one mattress.

The beach was really nice (please throw away garbage properly) and there was even some nice spots if you like snorkelling.

The food in the restaurant was really good. On our first night was seafood themed. Of course Seychelles has really nice fish. The second night was BBQ. I was surprised but they did really nice roasts. The hotel staff are all really nice and helpful.

it is best to use seychelle rupees, which is accepted in everything, including restaurants and hotel. we didn't bring enough, thinking we could use EUR or USD, and ended up converting EUR to rupees at the money changers. money changers could be found at airport and beau vallon (near the boat house restaurant). rates are reasonable. for inter island ferry, prices are cheaper online (in EUR) but if you have to buy tickets at the jetty, prices are in rupees.

With experience the beach area is not the best place to swimming, also is very windy, if you checking the island map the area is highly not recommended for swimming. The hotel beach is nice the swimming pool is nice comfortable, however the beach for swimming not the best, sorry. With difficulty walking also I highly reccomend flat beach area not this one.
