We were quite pleased with our two stays at the Cherry Blossom Hotel in June 2006. The rates are reasonable for the location. Directly across from the Robinsons Mall, a few blocks to the US Embassy (not our reason for being there) and close to lots of good restaurants. You get a free breakfast with your stay. The breakfast menu is broad but not too deep. The a/c works like a champ, the rooms we had were spotless and the staff is very friendly.

I stayed at the standard room and it looked newly painted and clean, yet, it felt and looked so squeezed up since there is this useless enclosed foyer after the entrance door that could have been opened up for more room space. As a two-star hotel, one should not expect much, although I must say that the hotel is evidently dated but management has kept it well to make it clean.

The big letdown however is its wi-fi services. The hotel provide only 1 hour of free wi-fi connection and charges 300 pesos for every 4 hours. But, I didn't even get to use my free time since the connection is paintstakingly slow. The breakfast is also disappointing. There is a variety of set-menu to choose from. I ordered corned beef with toast and lo, they served me cooked canned corned beef of the "Argentina" or "CDO" variety which are noted for their over-coloring and bad taste.. They could have served a more premium brand of corned beef like Purefoods since such breakfast set costs more than 300 pesos.

The service is excellent at the restaurant, though, as well as that of the guards at the lobby and hotel entrance, the housekeeping (which delivered my request real fast. There was no complimentary bottled water nor coffee in the room and I have to request the housekeeping whenever I need a hot water to make a coffee. TV in the room is also small in the old CRT make, but it is cabled.

The hotel's biggest attraction is its location which is right beside Robinson's Ermita mall.

Checking out was rather slow and contrary to the hotel's quick check-in process. The front desk personnel charging me for the room which i already pre-paid online through Agoda. When they realized their mistake, the clerk never apologized.

Overall, the hotel is not remarkable as there is nothing that impressed me at all.

This was my second time to be in this hotel & both were on business trips.

The hotel though is old & rusty which a little paint & renovation will take the eerily feeling yet the price speaks for itself.

The hotel is also very convenient & just a stone throw away from Robinsons Ermita.

If given a chance to tevisit this hotel despite its age, I will be back.

Stayed at this hotel since I had an assignment in Manila for 4 days, Feb 25-Mar1. I read a lot of reviews (negative and positive) before booking but decided to go with the hotel. My complaints:
1. Receptionists need a crash course in basic courtesy. All I got from the receptionist (Angel or Angela) as I entered was a cold stare. She should learn that visitors should have more priority than the person you're on the phone with. An acknowledgement that you will be attended to is the minimum. You don't ignore people that enter your place of business - especially if they're giving you business!
2. Missing old towels. I had to ask for towels on the first night. They gave me 4 towels. The following night when I returned, the towels were gone. Had to call again. Towels are old. Came back on the third night to an unmade room.
3. They'll call you at 6AM for a wake up call even though you did not ask for one. Can't believe they even screw this up and dial the wrong number.
4.Wifi is free, but slow.
The hotel being old is ok if the service was just better.
Noticed throughout my stay that they were extra nice to their foreign guests. That's fine. If you're a local tourist, suggest you stay away and just book at one of the smaller boutique hotels or pay for the more expensive ones. Nothing elegant at all about this place.

Guest friendly policies (such as not charging me for showing up at 7AM and only charging me for half a day when I left at 5PM) and a good staff are not enough to overcome the Cherry Blossoms rather run-down condition and traffic-related noise (whistles, horns).
I had their least expensive room. Comfortable bed but the tiny fridge barely kept anything cold and had suffered internal damage. Plaster on the room's wall had split and probably had not been painted since the 90s. The hyped Senor Alba restaurant was only average and had rather few Mexican meals.

Another guest friendly policy was not charging me for a plate of 3 scrambled eggs to go along with their regular free breakfast because I was eating alone.

Cherry Blossom's front entrance is a 2 minute walk from Robinson Mall's side entrance (mall open 10AM to 9PM) but most rooms catch a lot of traffic-realted noise from 9AM-9PM. I prefer the Pearl Manila (Gen Luna Ave) which is about a half-mile away and is newer and less noisy.

Before everytime our relative arrived from abroad our family recommended this hotel. My late husband and 1 even celebrated our first wedding anniversary here. For we like the service of the hotel before. But currently, before my arrival from Singapore I asked my sister Zenaida Persic to reserved a room for us for I will be arrived at night. My sister told me that the receptionist was not assisting them right away. The staff dnt do anything at the time they arrived to this hotel. We experienced in breakfast to be taken for granted. We already sit on the table and waiting for a waiter to take our order but no one approached us and i even noticed that they immediately assist people with foreigners. So what i did I went to the counter and asked for their list of menus. The staff at the counter even surprised for no waiter attending us.They served toasted bread not hot and toast, even their coffee they served already cold.I understand the kind of service of many filipinos. But I never thought that I would experienced to feel humiliated just because we are filipinos.I am very disappointment. :-(

The best thing about this hotel is its location- right by Robinsons mall if you fancy shopping or the movies and very close to Manila Bay. The hotel is quite dated, but clean enough and the staff provide an okay service. I struggled to communicate with a few of the people on the front desk which was surprising in a country where English is so widely spoken. I stayed here as part of an organised tour and the hotel paired me with a man that I didn't know. I was uncomfortable with this and they were unprepared to do anything to change it. The second night, my friends had to be very forceful with them to have it rectified, and all they would do was put a cot bed in another girls room for me. I didn't feel this was a satisfactory way to deal with it considering I had paid for a proper bed. The breakfast is okay here, but sweetened bread and cheap juices are part of every choice. Needs improvement.

Times were when this hotel's services were excellent. Now, the second and the third floor rooms are roach infested!!! The staff consists of the RUDEST MOST INSESITIVE service workers I have ever encountered the world around!!!! The hotel cabs are the MOST overpriced ever (ten times the charges of regular cabs which can easily be hailed just outside the hotel). The shower room/bathroom gets flooded every time one takes a shower; the TV set is so small it's not worth watching anything while relaxing; food like the hotel cabs are soooo overpriced you can have the same variety in the mall across the street for a couple of bucks!

Even its proximity to the Robinson Mall which was the number one reason I frequently checked in to this hotel is not worth any penny anymore!

If you want to have a more pleasant and enjoyable hotel stay in Manila, stay somewhere else! Seriously, I am a local, and I can not even tolerate the shabby attitude of the hotel workers and the filthiness of the hotel surroundings/yard. The staf think they are GODS and that hotel guests are PESTS like the roaches that reign in this small dingy hotel.

Their staff were all very polite (except for some in the housekeeping section). Showed us the rooms when we first inquired. Mr. Joseph and Archie were very accommodating. The two ladies at the front-desk were all smiles and stayed very composed, despite all the requests and inquiries of guests (it was the day before the mass of Pope Francis in Luneta, so imagine the volume of guests that were checked-in, are checking in, and still inquiring). Upgraded our room to the 2-level apartment suite because we booked ahead of the rest and so many people are still trying to book the standard room. Mr. Joseph Cinco, the manager in charge, was very warm and accommodating. It's like they're giving you a personalized service.

Our room was a 2-level suite at the ground floor. Upstairs is one bedroom with toilet and bath and tv, with a queen-sized bed. The ground floor has a sofa set, dining set, and a tv. We were given a roll-away bed too as part of the upgrade.

The hotel is just right beside Robinson's Ermita, so food was never a problem.
