If your idea of “getting away” is fly-fishing, camping, kayaking, or just sipping lemonade on the deck, Riverside Escapes has a place for you… Choose the cozy, private island fishing cottage or the new mainland log cabin for a vacation you won’t forget. Both are located directly on Section 8 of the French Broad River, just a ten minute drive from Weaverville and a scenic twenty minute drive from the center of downtown Asheville.

Detailed Reviews
My husband and I stayed in the Americana Cabin and it was so wonderful! We enjoyed the river views from all angles, and I dreamily read in the hammock as my husband fished most the day. The fishing cabin is completely stacked with all you need. We enjoyed our food cooked on the open fire under a blanket of stars. The perfect remote getaway for nature lovers!

Where do I start? Being originally from The Ozarks, but now living in Boston - I've been missing the woods. Three of us converged on the Asheville area from different parts of the country and stayed at Riverside Escapes Americana Cabin. This was the best 6 nights I've had in a long time.
The host, Liz is a peach (and a Realtor to boot - so she has tons of area information). You'll begin your mornings to the sound of the rushing river punctuated by the family rooster. He clucks orders to the hens to get crackin' - and they do. We had some of the most beautiful eggs all week. Those are the hardest working chickens in show business. Seriously though, it's perfect and bucolic on the island. Warning: the river makes it almost impossible to avoid midday naps! Heed my warning - or you will succumb to the River!
It only takes about 15 minutes to get to the island from Asheville and there is parking right on the street. The 100ft suspension bridge is a few hundred feet from the parking. it's a ton of fun to walk across. It becomes a little more challenging with a good buzz - but just hold on to the rail.
The island is in total seclusion - which is nice. There's an outdoor shower fed by rain barrels (tip: pump the pedal about 5 times real slow to get the water warm) which is so much fun! There's also a beautiful firepit with grate for cooking and enjoying the fire. The owners supply good wood.
Way off in the distance on the other side of the river a train passes a couple times a day. It's such a neat, fun place. It's really special. We felt like Huck Finn hiding out on the Mississippi. Don't miss an opportunity to stay at Riverside. Oh yeah, everything is close. We hiked Max Patch Bald, Mount Cammerer and Mount Mitchell. Also white water rafting out of Hot Springs, kayaked through the Biltmore Estate and went to Asheville a lot.

We were two couples coming for a relaxing new year's trip and the Riverview Retreat cabin (not the humble fish camp) was great for our purposes. The owners clearly take pride in the cabin and add wonderful touches that you would never expect but will appreciate in a rental. Both bedrooms and bathrooms were fantastic with plenty of room. It's almost a spiritual experience to sit in the hot tub, lights dim (almost all the lights in the cabin are on dimmers!), and just listen to the river.
Do not expect to use the WiFi for much, if anything, and cell reception is minimal at best. I viewed both of these factors as added bonuses but don't plan on working remotely (lesson learned). Had we wished to spend the trip cooking and socializing at the cabin, this would not have been the right cabin for four adults. The living room and kitchen, while comfortable and nicely appointed, are not spacious and dining is at the high top table on stools with room for no more than four adults.
This is a beautiful cabin in a gorgeous setting managed by owners who clearly care and have gone above and beyond. While there we found ourselves discussing a trip back in the summer to enjoy the river and truly appreciate all that this beautiful property has to offer. We would not hesitate to recommend the cabin to family and friends and hope to return!

Thanks for the great review! WIFI has drastically changed as we now have fiber optic high speed! You can still hide away and enjoy the quiet, but working from our location is now very practical!

The Americana Cabin is a perfect blend of rustic and comfort! There are enough ammenities to make it cozy and comfortable in bad weather, but in good weather you can enjoy the hammock, cook on the campfire, and fall asleep to the sound of the river. Our dog loved exploring the island and if the water had been a bit warmer, we would have happily joined him splashing around after geese!
This is a great spot for outdoorsy folks who want the luxuries of a shower after a long hike and a bottle of wine around the campfire!

My friend has her wedding along the river. The 2 story cabin she stayed in over looked the river and was updated inside. Very cute outside, bridge to walk across. Not a lot of parking if you wanted to visit someone staying there. Near the place was road bike riding and kayaking.

We were in town for a family wedding. This was a wonderful place to stay. Close to everything in Asheville but secluded enough to be very private - our own oasis! The property was gorgeous and very well kept. We had immediate access to the river where my son fly fished. My grandson found his first frog and that was priceless.
The luxury cabin was very well appointed. We especially enjoyed the gas fireplace in the evening. Farm fresh eggs were waiting for us in the refrigerator and they were DELICIOUS! In addition, there were S'Mores makings in a beautiful basket that we enjoyed.
The cabin was spacious and luxurious. My son, his wife and our grandson stayed as well as my husband and me. It was perfect! Kids books were provided as well as games (we had some great checkers matches).
We especially enjoyed the bird feeder that was constantly visiting by a lot of different birds. The suspension bridge was a hit as well as exploring the island.
We had a fantastic time and would highly recommend this place! If we ever return to the area, we will definitely stay here again.
Thank you so much!

We had a wonderful, huge family reunion at Riverside Escapes hosted by Liz and Paul, The property and facilities excellent. Each detail is carefully thought our and they do an amazing job with large groups looking for a great party site. The venue is awesome. We had over 60 people at a riverfront party with many staying on site and others in nearby locations. The grounds and river offer an outstanding location for lots of happy memories. Our hosts were so accommodating and creative in developing a perfect party!
