We stayed in a lovely room overlooking the main street. Our friends stayed in a suite overlooking the gardens. Our rooms were clean and furnished to the period of the home. The breakfast was exquisitely made by a chef with a flair of grandeur. We were all very pleased with our second time of staying at this turn of the... More

I have been a guest at the O'Neil House on several occasions and have only been disappointed when I was NOT able to stay there. I've had the privilege of staying in several different rooms there and each has it's own charm. Gayle and her assistant are gracious and friendly. The house itself is incredible and comfortably luxurious. The breakfasts... More

The website calls this a "no smoking" property but the stench of smoke permeates the place. We had to sleep with the windows open and we left without even staying for breakfast. In the morning the proprietor was "out" but her assistant essentially revealed that it's the proprietor herself who is a smoker. The house could be very nice -... More

The owner Gayle is as sweet as pie. The rooms are an amazing trip back in time when architecture was a thing of art. The bathrooms are spacious and the tubs seductively long and inviting. Most importantly, Gayle allowed us and other runners involved in the local marathon road race to return after the race to clean up, eat and... More

Our one night here was great. We stayed in the Master suit. It was much larger than we expected with a large sitting room. The entire house is decorated with cool antiques. It was as clean as it could be. We could not find dirt or dust, even as we looked for it. Breakfast was 10/10.

This is a once and a lifetime experience- staying in the home of a former robber baron. The breakfast was delicious and the assistant who served me in the breakfast nook could not have been more friendly or accommodating. It's important to hire good staff; this reflects on the management. However, I echo the other commenters from this site on... More

The O'Neil House is a beautiful Tudor style home built back in the 1920's, by the founder of General Tire (back when Akron was Rubber Capitol of the world). It's run well, very welcoming, friendly proprietor, breakfast was fantastic (they easily accommodated our gluten-free dietary request). My only issues, not deal-breakers: (1) The floors are pretty squeaky, hard to walk... More

This is a beautiful old mansion-like home that has wonderful details and beautiful grounds. Our room, the Canopy Suite actually included three bedrooms which is great for family or persons traveling together but not wanting to share a bed or room. Breakfast was delicious. Our hostess, Shirley, was very nice and made us feel at home. I think her asst's... More

We booked the Master Suite for the night before and the night of our wedding. We made the reservation over a year in advance. When we first called to inquire about availability, we were told that the Master Suite was available, other rooms were available too, and that we could even rent out the whole house if we wanted. We... More

My husband and I visited for a one night stay while attending a nearby concert. Rooms were warm, had personality, and were filled with family photos and old books/letters from Gayle's family. I could not speak more highly of this experience. Breakfast was beautiful and delicious and the garden was magnificent and relaxing. Gayle was a joy to talk with... More
