My husband and I went the the sparhawk bed and breakfast for our honeymoon this past weekend. Donovan was wonderful. He was incredibly attentive and helpful. We even got a pedicab ride to the west to go next block over. We loved his breakfast. Ask him for the hash browns he makes. They're the best! He also makes wonderful sushi!...

This is a charming refurbished motel from the 1950s nestled between a green creek bed and a gas station. The owner is a gregarious artist who makes intricate paper airplanes as his business cards. The rooms were clean, the beds comfortable, and the continental breakfast delicious. With a giant paper airplane sculpture near the garden, trains passing by, and coy...

We always stay at the Sparhawk art gallery when in Abilene. Donovan Sparhawk is an artist who is a real free spirit and has lots of ideas. It is refreshing to meet someone who is more unconventional and doesn't just do the same old thing as most people. The facilities include 3 guest rooms and an art gallery where Donovan...

We drove there for a weekend to check out more of Texas. It was an old motel that the owner, Donovan Sparhawk apparently saved a portion of..all of three rooms! He was a very pleasant host as was his partner. His artwork was interesting and so was his paper airplane making, but we had intended to have more time together...

I have stayed at b&b's before, & I went into it knowing that this would be a little different.  The rooms were small but very comfortable, and I got a great night's sleep.  There is a train nearby that runs several times a day, but it really didn't bother me. The area inside the gate had a couple of non-running...

Sparkhawk B & B is an unusual oasis in Abilene, TX. On South 1st, its tucked away behind trees. Once you drive in the private gate you step into a quiet Japanese garden. There is no TV or computer connections. Its very restful (except for the train that goes by several times a day). Donovan Sparhawk makes a great breakfast...

We spent one night with Donovan on a "spur of the moment get away "and would have stayed longer!!!!!!! He is an UNBELIEVABLE artist and an all around great guy and host..made us feel very welcome....not to mention, a paper airplane enthusiast and accomplished cook!! He aims to please and put out a delicious breakfast. We live in Canyon, Tx...

My boyfriend and I stayed here this past weekend and enjoyed our stay very much! It was a charming little gem off S 1st street you would hardly be able to find it even if you were looking but its there inbetween a gas station and a China Star resturant. It was small yet charming with lots of history (...

Very uniquie and outside the ordinary. My wife surprised me with this adventure. I had no idea where we were going until we pulled into Donovan's driveway. We were met with real enthusiasm. He was glad we were there. He is an awesome artist and great sushi chef. Sushi is not in my food group but it was one of...

Donovan is an artist and a neat guy. This place is VERY different. The rooms are wonderfully 50's and very clean. No TV (a plus in our eyes!) He makes great sushi (ask in advance...!) and good breakfasts! You get a free pencil drawing art lesson (if you want...we wanted!) and origami. You also have to love dogs...he is a...
