The gasoline was expensive. The little store was run down and the clerk was very unfriendly. The bathrooms were dirty. Not a quick on/off stop from I-40. We did need to mail a letter and that was convenient. If you need gasoline & can go a little further, I would recommend you do.

Great place for a basic overnight stay. Proprietor was so nice, and her travel stop sold the usual convenience store items and even had a PO. Very quirky, fun place for Route66 enthusiasts. Our room, as well as outside walls were handpainted with local scenes. Loved it!

Stopped here because of a tire problem. The lady inside was helpful in getting us help for our tire. As my husband was calling, I enjoyed looking around at all the items for sale in the store. Also has a small hotel

Traveling route 66, stopped at Alanreed just off highway, spent night at vintage Alanreed Motel. Had room #5, cute murals on the doors and around motel, fun motel interior. Shower okay, most things clean, one bath towel very smoky, not sure what happened with that. One bed dipped in middle other was okay. The place is cute and kitschy for...

About the same as other reviews. The murals are cool, beds comfy, proprietor very kind, price noteworthy, store a neat place to stop, and furnishings minimal. I'd mark it down on: cleanliness (tub and container by the sink), air freshener on shelf combined with smokey smell, and slightly disconcerting warnings posted about theft.

My husband and I took this hotel in a pinch. We were caught in an oncoming storm with no other hotels within reach, and stopped here. A Conoco station stands next to a little store and "deli" and a small one-storey hotel. The hotel is slightly shabby looking, but clean and comfortable on the inside, although the furnishings are a...

Our son was traveling through here on his way to college in California from Ohio ...on a tight budget, very tired after spending a night at a State Park with active BEARS! I phoned here at last minute on a whim when he saw a road sign for Alanreed TX. I cannot express how thankful I was to speak with...

We stopped at the Alanreed Motel after a long days driving and were pleasantly surprised. The room was simple, clean, and comfortable. The window unit air conditioning worked well and kept the room cool. This is a basic motel room, nothing fancy about it. The proprietress was friendly and kind even though we had woken her up in the middle...

“I recommend room #1, which has a wall-to-wall cowboy mural. It is the closest to the front desk, to the laundry facilities in a separate small building, and to the nearby store and breakfast bar. View is about the same for all rooms.”
