We (mom, dad, a 14-year-old and an 11-year-old) spent a week here in Studio Azul in mid-August. The location is ideal: less than twenty minutes from the airport, less than five from the prime shops and restaurants on South Congress. The studio is welcoming - we were always able to park right in front of it, the short path to...

This trip was for my wife’s 60th birthday. I wanted to do something different. We’re from Dallas and we spent four days at Casa Kenwood in the Casita Roja cabin. For those that don’t want to read through the entire review, the short version is that we highly recommend this place if you’re looking for the “Austin vibe”. Well maintained,...

My best friend was coming to visit from New York and we knew we wanted to take a short trip to Austin for a girls night (her family and I live in the Denton area.) We wanted a nicer place to stay but knew we'd have tough luck finding something in our price range that was also close to downtown...

First time visitor to Austin, once I saw their studios, knew it was exactly the environment I wanted to experience. The spacious unit was colorfully appointed and artistically decorated to make a peaceful environment. The large open space made it nice to visit with my niece after a day at the office without needing to sit on the bed (which...

I figure if a business owner takes the time to repond in a professional manner to a negative review, then that owner will be responsive if I have issues during my stay. We didn't have issues. We had a great time. The bed was really comfortable. The outside area was a great place to sit/read when we weren't wandering around...

Went with two friends on a girl trip to Austin -- just an overnight. We stayed at Casa Kenwood and LOVED it! Very "Austin" -- in a residential area, two "casitas" with an amazing backyard patio. We were lucky and got beautiful weather for a February, 60s and sunny. We enjoyed a great bottle of wine with a cheese tray...

This is one the best places I've ever stayed in the world. It's unique, quirky, peaceful, friendly, beautiful, relaxing - everything you could want from a hotel (unless you're on a boring business trip and just need a place to stay). My wife and I literally had to drag ourselves out to go and see things it was so nice...

Loved our time in Austin. Great location for walks, beautiful streets, houses, right near south congress for some cupcake love. The shower, beds, windows, kitchenette, outdoor area and quirky decor were all perfect for our family. I'll be letting all our friends know about this great find oh......and little Gemma was a wonderful extra :)

This is a late review, I stayed here in the the summer of 2012. My room was Casita Roja and it had a view over the magnificent back garden. Ver clean and cozy, with friendly owners. My dogs loved romping through the grounds and all the shade from the surrounding trees made it a nice, cool pace to sit and...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Casa Kenwood Guesthouses are one treehouse cabin (Casita Roja) and one cool "artist's" loft (Studio Azul) in the neighborhood of Travis Heights in Austin, Texas. We're not a hotel, not a bed and breakfast, and not a traditional vacation rental... We live on-site and we have two cool guesthouses and a great outdoor property that we are excited to share with travelers to Austin who are longing to discover a hint of that something special that makes Austin "weird." Visit Austin and still feel like you're home, not in a run-of-the-mill vanilla box! We're colorfully laid-back, we're artsy, we're pet friendly. “Studio Azul is huge!”

“There are levels in and out, which I love. Could be tricky for the old, drunk or unsteady. :)”
  • This is the view out the window I call
  • Colorful bathroom with pebble work filling up tiny spaces...so many materials and textures.
  • Plenty of room, even with couch/bed open. Small kitchen area is out of view.

“Casita Roja is more private than Studio Azul as it is at the rear of the property and detached from the owner's residence.”

“We enjoyed the Studio Azul, but I am sure we would have been just as pleased with the casita roja. The Azul does fit more people though.”
