The Austin Marriott Downtown receives commendation for its service, with guests often noting the staff's attentive and personalized care. While some travelers comment on the high parking and service costs, the hotel's value is generally celebrated, particularly for its prime location and amenities such as the rooftop pool and well-equipped gym. Convenient location next to the Austin convention center, with easy short, walks to tons of coffee, shops, bars, and great restaurants. You want tacos? You can find them very quickly, and you’ll find some of the best barbecue places in Texas but then a 1/3 of a mile. The upstairs bar (Zanzibar on the 7th floor) is really cool, and there are a couple of other bars inside on the 1st floor. Platinum and Titanium Marriott members also get to enjoy a free breakfast bar and an hors d’oeuvres hour every day; I would have liked breakfast tacos more than one time during my four-nights stay, but the food was really good. There is even an espresso machine that serves some pretty good drinks.
Checkout was a little bit of a mess (I needed a luggage cart brought up to my room, and waited almost 30 minutes for it before I went down and got one myself), but there was a large conference at the convention center next door so that’s understandable. I thought that valet parking was ridiculously overpriced at $59/night plus tax, but that might be the going rate in downtown Austin… Just know before you drive and arrive.
Overall, it was a really good stay; I told my wife that we are coming back this summer, so she can enjoy the pool on the 7th floor; you can actually see Lady Bird Lake in the distance from there. The workout room was also very well equipped, I enjoyed that as well.
I had a corner room that overlooked the convention center and the University of Texas campus to the north, with a slight glimpse of the top of the Capitol building. This location is about a 10- to 12-minute walk to the Capitol, and it’s free to get in and walk around, and there are free tours available, too.
Really, my only cons about this place are the lack of ice machines (there is only one, on the 7th floor) and the noise coming from the upstairs bar can be heard from the floors above it. I could hear music and thumping on my first night there, a Saturday, until almost 2AM.
*Another issue is the amount of homeless people in downtown Austin: that’s not the hotel’s fault, but just be advised that when walking, you may come across people that are sleeping on sidewalks or benches, or that may ask for a handout. During the day, I felt safe enough, but I would not recommend walking anywhere outside the hotel grounds alone at night.

For being a very busy hotel during a busy convention the hot water never ended and this was amazing! Pool area was lovely as was the covered patio behind the pool area. Ordering was a little confusing, had to ask staff. Fitness area was great but they forgot to add disinfectant wipes to be able to wipe down equipment before and after using. The room on the 30th floor was tough to keep cool and the thermostat was somewhat unreliable. The “upgraded” room didn’t have a mini fridge so that was disappointing. The room was spacious and had extra seating which was great! There was plenty of gathering space for large groups and the food selections were descent in the restaurant and cafe. Uljan helped orient us when we got there and she was lovely!

Our room was very clean, new luxury vinyl flooring, spacious shower with good water pressure, beds were very comfortable, and the pillows are always soft and supportive. We had a mini (empty) fridge in our room. The front desk personnel were very friendly and helpful. We received an excellent check in by Belen. She walked us to the elevator and explained how to use it because there are no buttons to push once you’re inside (slight learning curve if you’ve never used one of these). They have an M Lounge if you have status or want to purchase. The gym was clean and had at least 6 treadmills, workout equipment, weights, towels and filtered water. The rooms come with complimentary bottled water but you can always ask for more at the desk. Valet only. The location is walking distance to the convention center nearby, CVS, a few coffee shops (we lived Revolution Coffee), and restaurants and bars. I would definitely stay here again. It is worth the price for customer service, comfort, and location.

What a place! We are Titanium Elite members and were treated so well, from a complimentary upgrade, to a ‘tour’ of the bottom level so that we were aware of what there was to offer. Appreciated the ‘how-to’ on the elevator as well….no numbers to push ‘inside’ the elevator - all done prior to getting on. We also appreciated that the M Club was open on the weekend (not all are). Parking is expensive…but everywhere down there is expensive, so nothing to complain about - just be aware. The location was perfect - not too close to 6th Street (which we enjoyed BY FAR more during the day than at night) and walking distance to some many restaurants/bars. Stay here!!

Wow, the service of this @Marriott was top notch! After a terrible experience @Sheraton next door, Marriott saved the weekend!
We arrived and were checked in by professional employees. The bellman, Ethan, took our bags and escorted us to our room. As he engaged in pleasant conversation, he gave us a brief tour of the amenities as we walked to the room. He made sure he put the hang up items in the closet and even offered to fill our ice bucket before he left. Ethan also followed up with us regarding our stay and satisfaction with the hotel as he came out in the cold wind and helped load the bags without being asked when we were leaving.
Carlos, in the M room, was just as great! He was very attentive to everyone. He ensured the breakfast items were hot and refreshed regularly. He was courteous and interacted with the guests, as needed. When a guest dropped ALL of the utensils, he patiently just smiled and addressed it. Carlos also took extra precaution when asked about specific gluten free items. This was specially appreciated and kept my family from getting ill. The quality of the service and food selection were 5 stars!
In 2024, my customer service expectations are not that high, but Ethan, Carlos, and the front counter staff brought back the joy of great customer service! The Marriott service, from drive up to drive out, changed our weekend from a disaster at the Sheraton to a premium enjoyable experience. We will be back to this Marriott!

Great full service hotel within walking distance of restaurants, Congress Ave Bridge (too see the bats fly out) & more. The hotel was really busy & loud in lobby @ by pool but our room on the 30th floor was nice & quiet. We had a great view of the river too. We drove from San Antonio and arrived earlier than expected but Ryan at the front desk was still able to check us in. Our suite was not yet available (for which I had a certificate - due to my platinum Bonvoy status) but he offered a room with a better view for a better price AND returned my suite night certificates. He also gave me a coupon for 2 free drinks (up to $15 each) & a $40 voucher for any of the restaurants, neither of which we used but appreciated. The bed was very comfortable and the shower had great water pressure w a standard shower head AND hand held wand. We were able to use their lounge for complimentary breakfast & snacks which was very much appreciated &, although we didn’t need housekeeping, they offer that daily. Valet car parking @ car retrieval was speedy too.

This is going to be a very odd review to write/read but I have to share our experience. My husband and I booked a night at the Marriott Downtown for our anniversary for a staycation (we live in Austin) and splurged for a high level suite with a water view. Anabelen was an incredible host as we checked in and made sure we had everything we needed. They even left macarons in our room. We have 4 small children and wanted a day of rest and relaxation so opening up the windows and watching a movie was on the agenda but the TV would not work. We called down and they said oh the internet was out- major bummer. We had lovely drinks and appetizers at Zanzibar (love the atmosphere and staff!) and came back to our room to shower before dinner. After 10+ minutes of letting the shower run, there was no hot water to be had. We called down to the desk and they offered to send someone up but we had already decided against showering and asked if they could come in the morning so we could shower before we came home. They told us that hot water takes longer when they are at low occupancy. Another annoying thing but not the end of the world. We came back at 830 and planned to play board games and relax (since we couldn't watch TV) and noticed how stale the air was. My husband is very hot natured and said he had been trying to turn the AC on the whole afternoon but it never kicked on. We gave it a few hours and tinkered with it but finally couldn't handle it as we were going to bed. The night manager was very helpful and they sent up an engineer at midnight to try to fix it. The "fix" was not that noticeable and we spent the night sweating and tossing and turning. We woke up hot and ready to just leave without even trying the shower. SO..... The actual room was incredible... floor to ceiling windows and beautiful finishes... but just a really crappy experience. And the staff was attentive but also still such a crappy experience for an expensive hotel stay. We are loyal Bonvoy Elite customers as my husband travels a lot for work and upon checking out I wanted to share our experience with a manager. They first offered us a $50 gift card to the hotel restaurant which I declined. They did make it right and offered us half off of our stay but still just not the getaway we were hoping for. It seems like this new hotel has a lot of kinks to workout and should not be charging $600 a night for guests to not have access to internet, hot water, or AC. It was pretty disappointing and we will be staying elsewhere next time.

This is a fairly new hotel, very pretty and centrally located. Here are the issues we faced. 1) Our limo pulled up to the front of the hotel and there were several porters standing outside. Not one of them came over to assist us with our bags, so we had to carry them into the hotel ourselves. 2) The front desk are very nice, however the first comment they made was if we wanted a room on a higher floor, there was an extra charge. 3) There is no Concierge desk at the hotel. The staff are very young, inexperienced and were not knowledgeable about activities to do in the area . There is a park a few minutes away from the hotel where you can rent boats and no one had heard of the park or knew where it was. 4) The rooms are clean but a tight squeeze. There is no dresser in the room to put away your clothes. There is a closet with hangers and two tiny drawers. We kept hitting our head on the large screen television when we tried to get into bed. 5) There is a safe in the room, however at 5'3", I had to stand on a chair to reach it as it is at the top of the closet and not easily accessible. 6) There is no Kleenex in the main room, no Q-tips, shower cap, bath robes and they give you only one bar of soap. 7) There is a fridge in the room with only shelves in it, no drinks or snacks. The fridge has a glass front, many neon lights and a loud humming sound. If you are light sensitive, the room really lights up with lights on the ceiling, under the desk and all over. 8) We had drinks at the hotel bar, the glasses are small and they serve the drinks (which were $18.00 a drink) with a huge brick of ice. I have never in my life seen such large ice cubes. 9) We needed a late check out and the hotel was very accommodating. The staff at the front desk were more helpful than any of the other staff at the hotel. 10) Seating at the pool is first come, they was not sufficient seating for all the guests. It is not a pool for swimming, perhaps 3 feet deep. People just stand in the pool and drink and socialize.

Hotels gorgeous staff is very helpful and accommodating. Valet was very courteous and prompt (even parked my vehicle in front to make me feel fancy). Front desk check in was quick and easy and they even were able to retrieve some packages I had delivered prior to my stay after the FedEx business center had closed. I especially want to thank Jay. He was a great help with my luggage and extremely courteous. 10/10. Would try.

Great location in the heart of Austin, made travel when it was 100°+ a little more bearable. Also not far from airport. Hotel was clean and staff were very nice. I do wish the beds were a little more comfortable as I’m not a fan of the down feather pillows but I slept well enough. Overall recommend the stay
