Beautifully appointed with clean lines and lots of natural materials, this place is perfectly located for exploring the east side of Austin. We loved walking to the river and exploring the food scene in the area. There is definitely a lot of local flavour and this isn't a place I recommend for everyone. But if you want an adventurous bohemian...

Review by Conde Nast as one of top Texas hotels for 2014 is easy to see. Clean well designed property just a $20 taxi ride from the airport on the trendy east side. Beautiful attention to detail. All amenities nicely presented. Professional, friendly staff. Parking included.

If only every hotel could be as wonderful as the Heywood. Our room was beautifully decorated, quiet and spotlessly clean. The bedding was a better quality than the sheets we sleep on at home. The neighborhood was lots of fun. We parked the car (parking was included, by the way) and after gorging on delicious chicken mole tacos at the...

This place was amazing. It's located within walking distance of all kinds of great food and bars. The staff recommendations were spot-on (like breakfast tacos from Veracruz!). Will definitely stay here again.

When I found out for work I was going to be spending every other week in Austin for 6 months, it became very important to find a nice hotel. There are many definitions of what nice hotel is. There is the classical definition with beautiful rooms and filled with cold employees with a straight spine who try to do what...

The Heywood is a great little upmarket boutique hotel not far from downtown Austin, with funky, clean rooms and beautiful bathroom amenities. Hotel staff were great - their food recommendations were always spot on and they were really helpful. Also there are only a very small number of rooms so there is plenty of privacy and peace and quiet, and...

What they say is just not true. I will not go into it but beware. Also, the only pay first and do not change your plans hotel I have stayed in anywhere in the world. 7 rooms and apparently it takes them 12 hours to clean them so DO NOT check out late because it will cost you. Tiny rooms,...

We reserved a room at this 'hotel'. First of all, the neighborhood is lousy. There were pan handlers and street people right by the hotel. This doesn't bother me in a major downtown area of a city, but this was not a major downtown area. A block or two away was a pawn shop; a dead give away that this...

Kathy S, Owner at Heywood Hotel, responded to this review

My name is Kathy Setzer, I'm the owner and general manager of the Heywood. I'd like to respond personally to some of the points this reviewer makes. In short, these guests weren't right for our property or our indie neighborhood. They wanted a downtown experience, which we are not. As we announce on our website, we are quite proud to...

We just returned from a lovely weekend at the Heywood Hotel. Spotless, modern, local, artisanal, it captures the whole Austin experience. The friendly staff and its its owner, Kathy, were so helpful in giving us great recommendations from restaurants, to nice walks on how to get there, cab rides, handwritten notes, and treats... We would love to return to Austin...

My wife Yvonne and I stayed at the Heywood for 5 nights at the end of a 4 week trip to the USA. We originally stayed in Queen Bee but were later upgraded due to some early morning construction noise nearby. We greatly appreciated this effort to make our stay as comfortable as possible. The hotel is beautifully and very...
