** If you picked this hotel specifically for an upper room with a review, keep reading. Let me start by saying that the hotel is very nicely updated and I enjoyed that aspect very much. It’s in a good location and I picked it specifically after reading the comments/reviews about the great views of the city. After living in Austin for 6 years and returning for a visit with my son attending UT and was looking forward to a room with a view of the city each evening as I returned to my room. That is where my issue started. I put in a special request for an upper floor room with a view while booking my reservation, (all rooms are on floors 2-8.) I called a day or two before arriving to check that they had my room request and could fill it. I was told they saw my request, but got a standard “we don’t assign rooms until check in” response. When I arrived and checked in I was given a 2nd floor room with the view of a parking garage. When I asked why, after asking within my reservation and calling ahead, I didn’t get a room remotely close to what I asked for, I was told they gave those rooms to people staying longer than I was. Needless to say, that didn’t sit well with me. Truly disappointed I headed to my room and promptly filled out a “comment card” on the Hilton app about what happened. I wrote in my comment that had I known I wouldn’t be given a room with a view after requesting one two different times I would have appreciated a chance to look for a room available elsewhere that could give me that view. The response from the manager Sean is the reason I am giving the hotel 5 stars instead of 2. Sean apologized and shared with me they have some very longterm guests working downtown and the chance of getting an upper floor room with a view will be difficult for awhile. He said he would make sure those at the hotel working with reservations/guests wanting those upper rooms with a view understand there is a good chance they won’t get one right now so they can make an informed decision - instead of being as unpleasantly surprised as I was. Sean’s explanation was helpful, his response was kind and his commitment to help change the experience of future guests changed how I felt about my stay. I will now stay here again IF they can actually put me in the room I really want. Oh, word to the adult beverage drinker... They close the cooler they have them in at 11pm. Even on the weekends. Grab it early or buy some at the liquor store down the street.

Hotel's Favourite
Stayed at the Hampton in for work and had an amazing stay! From the staff, to the rooms, to check out, and everything in between--just nothing short of amazing! I wanted to do an early check in so I called and was told to call the day of, so I did and they were able to accommodate me. By the time I made some stops I did not need the early check in, but it was nice to have that option. After parking I went to my room which is easily accessible from the garage. The rooms are super large, open, and comfy. I was able to roll out my yoga mat and practice, do homework on a wide desk, and cuddle up with fluffy pillows on a king size bed! Also, the AC is super adjustable and covers the entire room--it was wonderful to be able to sleep in 69 degrees without worrying about my electric bill. Wow! The hotel itself was centrally located in downtown and near tons of restaurants. Because of COVID-19 the gym was closed and it was a grab and go continental breakfast. Only negatives were that parking was $24 a day, so be ready for that cost.

This hotel is perfectly located for UT and any downtown Austin event! The building was first designed as a luxury apartment building, and those founding principles shine today. In other words this is not your average Hampton Inn. Many of the rooms have beautiful views of downtown and the State Capitol! The gym is pretty nice and the high floor pool and patio are lovely! The hotel is in a very walkable area near campus and the Capitol complex. Additionally, this hotel is beautifully distanced from the tent city and dangers ever present in downtown these days. I try to stay here whenever I am in Austin for business.

The location was convenient and the hotel lovely. It was extremely clean and comfortable. Above all else, the staff was wonderful. Evelyn at the front desk assisted me in resolving an issue and could not have been kinder or more professional. Thank you to all, but especially Evelyn!

My husband and I were only here for one night, but it’s the nicest Hampton we’ve stayed in, and we’ve been to lots of them. It’s in downtown Austin and was originally something else. The rooms have tall ceilings and are nicely renovated. I also loved that the floors are a hard surface-no nasty carpet! They do have rugs on both sides of the bed. Service was awesome! Very friendly and helpful in locating restaurants we could walk to. You do have to pay for parking, but it’s pretty much expected in a downtown location. The only thing I didn’t like was the lighting in the bathroom-it was very dim. If you need to put on makeup, you need a lighted mirror or you have to use the mirror in the room.
