The sanitation of this place was VERY lacking. I had to be given a new room because when I arrived to mine there was still rings of drinks of the previous occupant. They mentioned sanitizing with a backpack but clearly did not care to wipe or actually clean. The floors were evidently dirty and even in my “new” room there was something sticking by my bed. I ordered room service and the tray was dirty and also had a sticky stain that I personally wiped with a alcohol wipe. I was not able to enjoy my stay due to the lack of attention to sanitation during a world health crisis. I understand this is a “laid back vibe” but you do not you with people’s health and safety. Do not stay here if you take sanitation and safety seriously. It was a nightmare.
Nothing more than not being able to take a shower in the morning! This hotel sits in the heart of South Congress Austin. You would hope that the hotel would make it right when you tell them that you couldn't take a shower.
My husband, dog, and I stayed when we didn’t have running water at our apartment due to the winter storm and the whole team was amazing! Felt like a staycation during a very rough week. Such a beautiful hotel and incredibly friendly staff to make you feel right at home!
After our stay at the S. Congress Hotel, I received an automated survey from the hotel. I answered honestly, and gave low marks in a few categories for issues I felt were justified. We told the gal at the front desk at check in it was our anniversary, and even though the hotel was not full (at all), she put us in a room overlooking a courtyard with a wedding at the hotel that was very loud and obnoxious most of the night (how romantic! lol). The A/C went out in the middle of the night, so it was rather uncomfortable. After describing issues in the survey, I was never contacted with an apology, staff at check out didn't even bother to ask how our stay was (and seemed annoyed to even be there)- so if you want to blow a lot of money on a hotel where the staff treats you like dirt- this is your place!…
I am a fan of the aesthetic. Very cool look. But the furniture and fixtures were tired and the suites were not worth the extra charge at all. If you need to be central to South Congress, this location is hard to beat, but if you are looking for comfort, look elsewhere.
