This was a good place to stay while in Abingdon. I was concerned before arriving given other reviews. However, hotel was great- better than expected. Room was spacious. Modern amenities. Staff was super friendly and helpful. Walking distance to everything in Abingdon. Great experience. We would stay here again!

We had heard how nice it was to stay at the "Martha", so we decided to drive up to Abington for our anniversary. We booked the Barter Theater / Dinner package, which was definitely the way to go. The Barter II play was great and the dinner in the hotel restaurant was fantastic. Our stay in Abington was first class...

My husband and I celebrated our actual 20th Anniversary at the Martha Washington Inn. Several phone calls were made prior to arrival stating how important this stay was to us. We chose to return to the place where we got engaged. We booked a couples spa treatment, dinner at Rain, tickets to the Barter theater all on the 23rd. We...

First time at the "MaWa" and we were pleasantly surprised. Love how they have respected and saved the character of inn (college), while updating the rooms nicely with modern bathrooms (small, but modern). Staff from bellmen to valets to front desk were extremely friendly and helpful. Truly enjoyed touring the place and viewing all of the old college pictures. Would...

We booked this hotel last minute through IPrefer Hotels.com. I also called the property and was told it was the last room available. We had 2 adults and 2 kids. First I will say that the charm and historic architecture and charm of this gem are beautiful! It's a special place and the kids really enjoyed it too. The indoor...

We arrived on a Friday afternoon for a night at the Barter. The complimentary valet was very nice. We were in the Room 300 Suite which was very spacious, but the most exciting feature of the suite is the toilet. It salutes you when you enter the bathroom, keeps the seat warm, rinses you off and then blow dries you!...

We enjoyed our 3 day holiday in Abingdon, VA. Our large suite, with antique furniture, including comfortable chairs, was beautiful and clean. We felt quite pampered! The historic hotel was originally built as a private residence. Over the years, additional space was built and the property was even used as a women's college. Historical photographs are in view throughout the...

The hotel is lovely upon entrance. The bellmen were very friendly and eager to serve when we arrived. The front desk staff, however, were a bit too slow to respond and took a few seconds to come out of the back office. I could see some of them on their computers, so I don't know if whatever they were doing...

The hotel room was comfortable , with a very comfortable bed and updated bath. You won't spend many nights in a hotel furnished w antiques- this is one that is! It can be tricky getting to your room, i.e. up several floors and some steps to our location, so if you are limited physically, make sure to tell them when...

We decided to spend one night at “The Martha,” where my wife had stayed and played concerts a decade ago. We took our time driving, fall colors what they be, from Black Mountain NC to Abingdon along the Blue Ridge Parkway. We arrived in time for a good meal and an extremely funny and well done show at the Barter...
