We recently stayed here for several days. Prior to making the reservation, I read the COVID protocol for this hotel online. It indicated that staff wore masks while in the building and guests should wear masks in public spaces. Sadly, this was NOT the reality we experienced. The only persons we saw consistently wearing masks were the front desk staff and the maintenance staff. The housekeeping staff walked around with their masks dangling off their chins or pulled down below their noses. They made no effort to pull them up when we spotted them in violation of their own protocol. We observed this daily. They were cleaning rooms for new guests with absolutely no protection over the mouth and nose. This was every day we were there. We asked for some extra towels. They were delivered by a staff member with her mask pulled down below her chin. This means the staff are breathing and expelling droplets in the air, across the room surfaces and all over the linens. YUCK! We are older, so it was important for us to feel confident in our room's environment. Fortunately, upon arrival we sanitized our room and sprayed disinfectant on all soft surfaces and across bed linens. We did not allow the housekeeping staff into our room at any point. We are glad we didn't after observing their blatant disregard for the well-being of their guests. It's a shame because our room was spacious and nice with a reasonable rate. The pandemic is on the rise in this area, so we really hope that management will live up to its stated COVID protocols for all future guests.…
We stayed here as part of a hiking trip. It was delightful. The beds were comfortable. The rooms were clean and dust free. The air conditioning worked well. The interstate noise was quiet. Most importantly of all, the staff were hospitable and kind. We appreciated the late morning checkout time as we wanted to sleep in after our long hike.
Stayed at this hotel from Oct. 22-24, 2020 while in the area for a VA Creeper Trail bike ride. Was assigned room 303 at the end of the hall on 3rd floor. Room was large and clean with nice amenities. Had a very nice mini-fridge/freezer, although the microwave was a little on the small and very "manual" style. Room also had a K-Cup coffee maker. The T.V. station choices were not good at this location. I couldn't get some of the "major" networks, including NBC, ABC, and FOX. CBS was the only one that "came in" as they apparently have a dish-style network. I wanted to watch the World Series games on FOX, and I simply couldn't find the channel. Bathroom had a nice amount of countertop space, but only one electrical plug on the counter, which was not nearly enough for a modern bathroom. Bathroom also had NO...ZERO towel racks to hang towel on, neither for the bath towels nor the hand towels. You had to lay them on the counter to reuse them, so they never dried not being hung up. Also, the tub/shower could really use some grab bars inside for those of us who aren't as steady as we once were. The sink faucet was nice, but the shower head was dated and had only two settings for adjusting the water pressure. The water drained out of the tub way too slowly as well, leaving you standing in water when your shower was completed. Due to Covid, no room service at all, and no hot breakfast; just grab and go items. I think it would be an excellent idea to be given a restaurant gift card to a nearby breakfast eatery (in this case, Cracker Barrel would work great), if hotels are not going to give a discount for not having hot breakfast at the present time. Grab-&-Go just doesn't take the place of a hot breakfast at all, so forego all that, and give $10 cards to each patron per night to go out and have a hot breakfast if the hotel can't provide one. Overall, I can recommend this hotel with just a few items mentioned above, which can hopefully be alleviated in the future.…
Stayed at this hotel when we went to preview Emory & Henry with our college-bound granddaughter. Rooms were clean, moderately priced and staff was friendly. Located a reasonable distance from the campus of Emory & Henry.
We stopped here while traveling. The staff was very nice and accommodating. The room was nice and clean. We were on second floor towards parking lot so did hear some traffic from the highway in the morning but nothing that was real bothersome. Of course with COVID bfst was just grab and go but they did have coffee (some I’ve found dont) so that was a plus! No issues and would stay here again if ever passing through.
