I stayed two nights during Kamakura fireworks. The guesthouse is in really nice, old fashioned Kamakura neighborhood. The owner Masa is very friendly and informative. I paid 500 yen extra to get very healthy, vegetarian breakfast. The only thing it bothered me was the dark mold in the shower room. It has been very humid in Japan, but I think...

I spent one night here staying in a dorm room. Slept on tatami mat, the guesthouse was clean and comfortable, hot showers, wifi access, free tea. Staff were friendly and helpful, I hired a bicycle for the day which was a bit old but worked fine and I rode around most of the the city with it. Good location near...

First things first: the bed was very very comfortable and the curtain gave me all the privacy I needed even if I was in the shared room. I had never stayed in a room with tatami mats, so that was obviously a plus. Also the showers. I don’t know if anyone else mentioned them, but the shower was very refreshing...

This is our 3rd time staying at Kamejikan. It feels like home to us when we come to Kamakura. We always booked the private room for ourselves and it is really peaceful staying there. The guesthouse are clean and safe. The staff are very friendly and will go the extra mile for you. We always loves the breakfast that Kamejikan...

I have been there for 1 night. AC in bedrooms, no AC in common space. Kind staff. Payable just by cash and in advance. I would give 4 stars if I had not seen a coakroach in the bathroom during the night

This is our second time staying at Kamejikan and this time, it feels like going home. The staff are very friendly and helpful. Things changed for the better compared to last year. The beds are clean and we love the futton. They kept the place well. We stayed here for 5d4n and was pretty sad to leave. It is very...

We came here for a few nights and stayed both in the small room and the dorms. It's a smaller place so room bookings fill up quickly, and I can see why. This is about as traditional Japanese as you can get. The hotel dates from the Taisho era and was once the house of a wealthy family. The place...

Glad that we chose Kamejikan for our 2 nights stay in Kamarura! I love this place so much! Nice staffs, friendly, kind and helpful! They made good breakfast for us as well! I'd like to spend my time at the common area instead of just stay in my bed! And just a kindly remind, please keep your voice down at...

Peaceful, cosy, clean, very friendly staff (we see one of the best zen temples thank to the advice of the staff). Everything ok (we had had still water, space in the fridge, hot water, wifi, etc.). It's a very nice experience to stay there, and Kamakura has to be visited if you are in Japan!

Just choose Kamejikan without hesitation. The staff are really friendly, doing their best to offer the service. The place is also nice and special, representing kind of icon of the ancient style and culture of Japan.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Guest house Kamejikan is located in old Kamakura area and only 3 minutes walk to the sandy beach. The building is 90 years old and originally built as a residence for a wealthy family, then renovated into the guest house in 2011. "Kamejikan" means "turtle time" in Japanese and it is named in hopes that our guests would spend relaxing slow time. Also, we care about sustainability-minded management by using eco-friendly and fair trade products. All the staff loves travel and we would be happy to share our experiences. Staying at the traditional Japanese wooden architecture could be one of your special experiences in Japan. We welcome you to visit us at "kamejikan". ... more   less
