The only area that separates your room from the beach is the garden with swimming-pool. Most rooms have spectacular views. The rooms are spacious and comfortable. The staff is helpful and friendly and you can talk in English (or German and Italian) with the owners Giovanni and Nadia. The food of their restaurant is of spectacular quality and they serve some good wines! The structure of the hotel is very good and the location itself couldn't be better, but the only unpleasant aspect of the Eden hotel is the surrounding area. The boardwalk just south of the hotel seems abandoned which is a shame because of the great potential the area has. Though, the beach in front of the hotel is already the good part. Tip: take the boat tour to Lagoa Encantada, a big lake with waterfalls in the middle of the Atlantic Rainforest. We had a bbq and some drinks in a simple but cosy cabana. It was a great experience! On a night out to the city center of Ilhéus it took me just a little more than 10 minutes to get there. Giovanni took me to the airport himself on the day of my departure. An overall very pleasant stay!

Due to a problem with the rain on the Corumbau road, we were forced to spend the night in Ilhéus before continuing our journey to the Maraú Peninsula. It was Friday of the first week of the year and the hotels were all full. We found a family lodging in the region and they recommended dinner at this inn. It was a terrible experience! Upon arrival, the restaurant was very disorganized and it was difficult to get someone to confirm that the place was open to the public and to show us where we could sit. Then, the waitress informed us that octopus and lobster were not being served, because “the owners had decided to make sushi” and the kitchen was busy. Among the possible options, we chose the shrimp moqueca - a quick and practical dish. When ordering a niçoise salad, we were told it couldn't come out because the egg had to be cooked and it would take a while. We then ordered a Caesar salad. Then we waited 1 hour and 40 minutes, marked on the clock, to receive the salad on the table and another 20 minutes for the moqueca to arrive. Absurd! During that time, only one group, with around 12 people, was served sushi, gyoza, harumaki... and a lady was constantly circulating between the table and the kitchen shouting, announcing the dishes and barking orders to the waitress.
Just before the salad arrived, when we asked about our dish, a cook told us that it was taking time because they had run out of coconut milk and they needed to make another one right away.
In the end, our moqueca arrived with rubbery shrimp, obviously because it was overcooked (a lot!).
Upon leaving, a lady (possibly the owner) apologized for the delay, saying that our dish had been sent to another table by mistake. They could, at least, agree on which lying excuse they were going to use.

Apparently there was a “Japanese night” - about 2 or 3 tables and the other customers were left unattended, after all we couldn't eat a niçoise salad because the egg had to be cooked and we waited around 1h50 for a moqueca.
In short: confusing service and inoperative kitchen.
No restaurant is obliged to receive a customer, but when receiving, it should be treated with a minimum of attention and dignity!
PS: what saved us was the waitress, as the managers didn't even bother to speak to us. To be fair, when we left, a lady who appeared to be the owner smilingly explained to us that our order had gone to another table. Do I need to go back???
