This is a comfortable clean pousada which is very convenient for Ilheus airport. The staff are very polite and helpful and the manager spoke pretty good English, certainly better than my Portuguese! For a budget hotel the rooms were large and comfortable and quite. The next morning the buffet breakfast had an excellent selection and was a good start to the day. Personally I wouldn't want to stay here for a holiday as it's too close to town but for those that do there is an excellent beach just a few minutes walk down the lane at the side of the hotel. Excellent reception for wifi in our room which opened onto a small balcony overlooking the pool in the inner courtyard. If it's too late to travel further after your flight arrives or you have a morning flight, Marinas Pousada makes a perfectly acceptable stopover. This was our second visit to this pousada and I've no doubt we will use it again.

Marinas Pousada is a two-story building, and all rooms face the inner courtyard and pool. (There are no ocean views and the beach is a 5 or 6 minute walk down a gravel road.) It generally scores well on the two most important criteria: security and cleanliness. The property is well fenced (although easily scalable), there is someone on duty 24 hours and there’s a police station directly across the street. Parking is available inside the compound although there may be insufficient space when the pousada is full. In addition to the breakfast area there is a restaurant, open only for dinner, but we didn’t try it.
The room size was comfortable for two and the appointments - a flat-screen TV and a small, stocked fridge - were functional. The décor is spartan: a single, lonely painting on one wall. There was only one reading lamp for the two end tables.
Pros (with some qualifications):
• The public areas and our room were very clean and well kept except for a number of large ants in the bathroom.
• The air conditioning and free WiFi worked.
• Although the pousada faces a main highway, it was quiet in our room.
• Maintenance was generally very good although much of the wood in the courtyard was badly in need of refinishing.
• The hotel information card in the room was translated, and the English was impeccable (a rarity here).
• The R$140 (US$60) per night rate was considerably less than other pousadas in the neighborhood.
Cons:
• The included breakfast was acceptable but below the standards of other similar pousadas. The butter was sitting out and was turning rancid. There were two cereals available but no bowls. (We used coffee cups.) The toaster would merely warm the bread after ten minutes. The cheese slices had been out so long that they’d turned dry and waxy.
• The pousada advertises Sky cable TV. Sky’s basic service in Brazil carries 91 channels. But the hotel only pipes 4 of them into the rooms! The desk clerk couldn’t explain why but said that many other guests had complained. (This alone merits a "not returning".)
• To call the beds “firm” would be charitable; rock-hard is more accurate.
• There were no chairs in the room, only a single, uncomfortable bamboo barstool.
• The side of the toilet bowl sits a mere 2” from the wall, so you have to sit a bit sideways.
• There were three usable wall outlets in the room, two of which were hidden on the underside of the headboard. We’d have never found them without an employee’s help.
Conclusion:
We never saw the owners during our 3-day stay, which is not typical of Brazilian pousadas. Perhaps that apparent lack of oversight accounts for some of the shortcomings noted.
There are currently 12 TripAdvisor reviews for Marinas Pousada, all but one highly favorable. It’s all about expectations; compared to most pousadas here, this is a good one. But international travelers may expect more.

Concordo com as respostas. Ocorre que o transito as vezes fica bem congestionado na ponte, Ăşnico caminho para chegar a cidade, e isto reflete em toda a cidade.
