Stayed 5 nights here...had planned to spend half my time across the river in Arraial D'ajuda but was happy enough to not bother moving...the location is not the best, a bit of a walk from the ocean waterfront and the numerous restaurant and bars..but then that it also a positive as it is a quite location and still has a few eating places nearby...but Porto Seguro isn't big and and doesn't take long to walk further anyway... The rooms without pool view are a bit cheaper and good value...large rooms with spotless bathroom, wifi, TV etc..nice pool area with a couple covered gazebos. Awesome free breakfast with quite an array of sweets, hot food, fruits, juices, etc. You can also get some basic lunch and evening meals, and beers, from the counter in the eating area. I didn't come across any staff who spoke english, but the young guy who was at reception most of the time was extremely friendly and helpful..I spent a bit of time with him using Google translate on their computer, getting info about activities and he searched info and booked a whale watching tour for me..also located a good launderette for me.. Highly recommended and would stay here again without a doubt..…
I really liked this hotel. It is very cozy and charming. My room was very simple but yet in a good size and very organised. They have frigobars and the bathroom was quite big. It is a very quiet hotel, ideal to relax. Extremely good location, close to downtown and the ferry boat, walking distance to many restaurants and the mall. Great staff! The guys on the front door were super nice and kind. The breakfast is amazing, they have a whole bunch of stuff. There is no restaurant but the guys there might prepare u a snack with you ask for it.
This place had everything I could hope for: Impeccably clean and quiet, hot shower, fridge in the room, good food and a basic bar, nice pool, helpful staff. The most valuable asset for me was the owner Renata. I speak no Portuguese, and the tourist infrastructure for visiting the various parts of the World Heritage Site there is virtually non-existent. Renata speaks excellent English and got right online and on the phone, talked to the right people, got the info I needed, and helped me plan 3 good days there. Thanks again, Renata!
I went to hotel Estalagem and I really appreciated the location and the employees. It is a few meters away from the fish market, which is beautiful and for which you must pass by in the morning to take beautiful pictures! It is close to the ferry that takes you to Arraial d'Ajuda and its beautiful beaches. On top of that, the employees are extremely nice and willing t help you on any kind of matters (organizing visits, and more). The only bad point is that the Internet is slow. But when you go to Brazil you are not supposed to watch online movies! And I just want to add that the owner, Renata, speaks a perfect English, which is very rare in the region. Additionally, Bahia Active is a bike tour agency which is located right within the hotel, and owned by Renata as well. I found it very convenient to be able to book a bike tour with Renata and talk to her face to face about the details. I recommend this hotel!…
Charming little hotel, renovated nicely, extremely close to the airport, 10mins walk into town and the breakfast was really good (fresh fruit, hot food, plenty of choice). Staff spoke next to no English and there is a nightclub four doors down who thump out music until the small hours, so don't expect a good nights sleep at weekends!
