We arrived at Casa Vila Bela off of a 9 hour flight at 4:30am and much to our appreciation there was a polite man there waiting to let us inside. After such a long a tiring flight it was a great relief to find the Pousada so easily and friendly upon arrival. The Pousada is beautifully charming and at breakfast...

Found the place via TripAdvisor, and it was better than what we had expected. Gerusa made our stay much more productive by suggesting great things to do. Due to reservation issues we had to stay in two different rooms, two nights overlooking the bay, and the other two night to the street. Both were GREAT rooms..., clean..., roomy. Breakfast was...

Manager / owner Gerusa is lovely and welcoming. Her local knowledge of whats on, where to go was very useful. Fantastic large room, homely feel, huge bathroom and nice breakfast. Also very clean and spacious feel to the place. Wifi was problematic in the room but fine in the lounge. Bed was a little short if you are over 6ft,...

I stayed for three nights there and have to say that I had a great time. Hosts: I am writing hosts as a category because it really is no regular hotel. Of course you can be anonymous everyhwere if you wish, but at the Vila Bela, you are given the feeling that the owners are your hosts and you their...

The pousada is located at walking distance from all the main attractions in Salvador. The room we stayed in (orixas) is small but nicely decorated. The breakfast is great! Enjoyed it every day with a view over the port of Salvador. Hosts (Gerusa and Stefane) are very kind and willing to help with anything (including airport transfer). Only downside: wifi...

Casa Vila Bela was not a good choice. Some things went wrong during our stay. To begin with, we were offered airport transfer by the pousada, however the driver would not show up. There was no wi-fi connection all the time during our stay. To be fair I must acknowledge that the owners Stephane & Gerusa were very helpful and...

We stayed 4 nights, and had a good time. The location in the old town of Salvador is excellent; all of the major sights are within walking distance. (Also, take the escalator down to the lower town and take a taxi to Barra, nice place!) The pousada was nice, our room was ok with a large toilet/shower and a small...

Rarely can you find a place like this. Owned and managed by a well-educated, well-traveled Salvador local herself, Gerusa is an amazing hostess because she wants to be. She has a multi-national family, and can conveniently and fluently speak Portugese, English, and French (also comprehends Spanish perfectly). She provides a daily breakfast with your stay, which I am willing to...

Although this pousada is a little on the expensive side, I loved it. All the staff were so kind and helpful. The host even drove me to the beach one day and was always writing me little notes to give to the bus driver or taxi driver. She helped me book my bus to lencois and gave me lots of...
