Amazing location, with an overview of the Nativos beach. Me and my wife were celebrating our wedding anniversary , so we decided to have dinner under the moonlight. The table we were sitting was by the pool and we could see the full moon. Amazing. We order a lobster salad and a Thai green papaya shrimp salad. Simply amazing. The...

I came across this restaurant prior to my trip but did not seriously consider it until some of our friends recommended it to us. They ate here three nights in a row and raved about it. The restaurant was fully booked some nights, however, when we went--we were the only ones there. The restaurant is decorated with some modern fixtures...

We decided on El Gordo after reviewing a few other properties in the area. El Gordo by far has the best price and view. The property is amazing and very well maintained. The ladies Sheilla, Adriana and Yolanda are just so warm and kind. We stayed in room #3 that accomodated 2 adults and 2 kids and it was so...

After visiting several of the top end restaurants in Trancoso, I wouild have to say this was my favorite spot. Not cheap by Brazilian or American standards, but worth every penny! If you visit my recommendation is try the Bacalhao al Forno, an amazing dish for all the senses even for those new to the dish!

Keep in mind it's an expensive village. El Gordo is amongst the cheapest ones well located in the "Quadrado" historical area, but you'll still pay for that convenience. Pros: location, comfortable rooms (nice bed, linen and towels), incredible views, courteous service, tasty breakfast. Cons: rates, noise (if you stay in one of the rooms close to the restaurant), food &...
