Location is good, close to some sightseeing, but not secure to walk alone in the night as locals said. Staff was very helpful, Maria was a lovely host. There's no reception in the entrance, they gave us door codes to get in and out. I stayed in a private bedroom with 3 beds. The big wall fan was too noisy, I didn't use it when I went sleep. There was no warm water in the shower. Bed and pillows were ok. There's no breakfast. I didn't find other guests to interact with. It was a good value for money.
Marvelous place, calm, with plants and good people. If you want a place to sleep well, with rules at night (Kitchen closes at 22:00 and no noise is allowed) and close to Dragão do Mar and other nice cultural places in Fortaleza this is the Hostel. The price is fair and attendance very good. It is a place for people that likes culture and nature.
Backpackers Ceara Hostel is my home away from home. The rooms are very welcoming, clean and organized. Dona Maria, Márcio and Gisele are excellent hosts.I totally trust my moments of rest to Backpackers.
This is the cheapest place in Fortaleza, and they charged me the amount advertised on hostelworld. It's worth the cost. Bad: - no internet in the rooms - one bathroom upstairs for women and one downstairs for men, means a lot of walking - lockers are in the common area instead of in the rooms, which also means a lot of walking - run by a kind old woman who only speaks Portuguese and isn't always around when you need something Good: - beautiful space with lots of plants - clean - well stocked kitchen - fast internet (in the common area) - close to everything in the city - close to public transit - comfortable rooms (not too hot while I was there) If you're looking for a low-cost hostel this is a good option. It's a quiet beautiful space to relax and eat between outings.…
This hostel is a cheap place with a good location. Good things: It's really close to Centro Cultural Dragão do Mar, not so far from Ponte dos Ingleses and Praia de Iracema. There is a bus stop just a few steps from the hostel. It's close to restaurants and another touristic places. Staff is friendly and the place is clean. Bad things: wi-fi signal is really poor in the rooms; there's no private bathrooms, even for the private rooms; there's no air conditioner and Fortaleza is a warm city... If you don't have much money, that's the place!
Overall a terrible stay. Main thing was the unfriendly staff. Would not recommend at all. Only one staff member at the hostel present whom English is very bad. She sights and has to call someone to translate. Not a good host, doesnt provide any information at arrival. Was very cranky when we stayed there and never said bon dia or anything. No 24h reception or maybe none ever. Every time we arrived no one was behind the desk. Noisy neighbours of the hostel. Problems with the payment. They advertise less on hostels.com but make you pay the full amount at arrival and claim the deposit is your fee to hostels.com which is actually theirs. OK beds but terribly old pillows Lockers are older than methusalem. Need replacement. Cute outside chilling area with hammocks. Old couches in the common area which leave marks on your clothes. Almost every light in common area are almost don't work. Cold showers behind a curtain so no locks on showers. Bad directions from the airport so it is hard to find also because of the misleading entrance. Very small stairs to the second floor, almost impossible while carrying a backpack leave alone a suitcase which is just not an option. Very dangerous. Kitchen is a chaos. No breakfast. No lights in toilets at all. Bad ventilator which is very noisy. If it works while some plug ins have no power or not the total power. Wifi works on and off. Certainly not in the rooms. Should not belong in the lonely planet. …
It's a nice place and you're certainly getting a lot for what you pay. Clean beds, decent kitchen, fast wifi, good location in vicinity of the shopping area, beach and historic centre. Above all, however, it's a great place to hang out with friendly staff and beautiful outdoor area.
We stayed here during the world cup, so thisng smight be difernt now, but it was still the cheapest option then, as i believe it always is, but you get basics. room, and secured entrance, some gas hobs to cook on and somewhere to eat/ mingle. the room as ok in its basic sense. it was hot, dank, and dusty. the toilet worked, as did the shower. the place needs a good refurb - by that i mean a paint, clean and some extra furnishings in the rooms- hooks, side table, shelf in bathroom etc. stay here if you need, but it might be nice on the beach- depends if you find a deal down there.
We spent a short night in this backpackers. We had a four-beds room and our son slept in the men dormitory. The room are quite nice, the bathroom has been recently renovated and is sparkling clean and modern. There is a small garden with hammocks and it is conveniently located. The lady at the reception is nice and helpful and seems to run a tight ship. However, it was extremely noisy and hot. The fan was barely working and once the shutters were shut the room became very stuffy. our son slept better in the dorm which was much cooler and quieter. The kitchen was dirty and not very appealing. Overall OK.
The hostel is very well located and the rooms are nice. The bathroom is really great and wifi works very well! The only problem was the temperature of the room... Definitely too hot and the fan was making so much noise that is was hard to sleep with! The owner is a nice person!
