On February 25th of this year I booked a reservation for two rooms with the River Rock Inn for October 2nd. The reservation was for one night and booked directly through the Inn. On July 1st I received a call from the owner informing me that because our reservation date was during the Bayfield Apple Festival, 25 miles north of the Inn, that we had to either book a second night to meet their two night minimum during holidays, or pay for two nights while staying one. I pointed out that I had a confirmed reservation from them for the one night, but he insisted that I had two choices-book a second night or pay double. When I stated that I had never had a hotel intentionally not honor a reservation, he replied that times were difficult and he had to make money any way he could. I am sure this is a nice place to stay, but consider this nothing less than unscrupulous.

This place is a gem. Even from the outside, it appears to be new or remodeled, very clean and neat. The guys in the office/store were super friendly. Our room was immaculately clean, spacious, and comfortable. The bathroom was pretty large as well with a sizable shower. The layout of the room worked well for us (we stayed in room 6, a single queen), and we loved that it also had a ceiling fan. All toiletries are provided in dispensers, and the sink is located outside of the bathroom, which makes it convenient for more than one person to get ready at a time in the morning. We unfortunately had some thoughtless neighbors who stood outside the rooms talking quite loudly early in the morning, but other than that we can't say enough great things about this place. We'll definitely be back.

We stayed here only one night on our way to Madeline Island. Everyone at the office were very friendly, the room was clean and comfortable. Location is close to downtown and directly across from the lake. We will definitely stay here again next time we are in town.

My wife and I had been traveling in Ashland on the weekend of the 4th. We arrived on Friday afternoon with no reservations and happened upon the River Rock Inn & Bait Shop. The pictures looked nice so we stopped in, unfortunately were told that they had just booked the last room five minutes before we arrived. As we were leaving the owner said they could have one room available in a couple of hours but it’s a bunk bed. We really had no interest in that, so we left. Called about a dozen other places several towns away to no avail. So we headed back to the Inn & Bait shop for another shot at the bunk bed. I called on the way and again was told they were completely booked. My husband went in and asked about the room. The older gentleman said that it is still available in a couple hours (they had to call the cleaning lady in) and that if we wouldn’t use the upper bunk we could have it for $20 off. We went into town for drinks and a bite to eat and came back to check in. The room was spotless! Smelled freshly cleaned, bleached, sparkly, spotless! The room and accommodation were truly one of the best we have ever experienced! The high quality features and cleanliness was outstanding. The check in and staff were very friendly and welcoming. I would stay there again in a heartbeat and would highly recommend it for anyone looking for a place to stay while in the area

River Rock Inn is the cleanest accommodation we have ever stayed at. Glistening clean floors, bathroom and kitchenette. Not a specific dust any where, not even the curling fan blades or a/c unit. Completely stocked so we didn't have to worry about a thing and just spent our time visiting family and friends in the Chequamegon Bay area.
