We stayed between the Olympics and Paralympics and had a very relaxing break. It's winter in Brazil so it's not as hot as during the summer and the hotel was very quiet. In fact for some of our time we were the only guests. None of the staff really speak English although one of the has a smattering. Neither of us speak Portuguese but using sign language, Google translate, and a bit of head scratching we managed to make ourselves understood! The beach is through a gate and the hotel has sea kayaks for guests to use so we did a bit of paddling which was fun. There are turtles and shoals of fish in the bay. We were fascinated by the birds in the garden as we ate our continental breakfast. The village of Angra is a fair trek away and not really worth the walk so if you think you'll need to get away you'll need to get a taxi. We had a hire car but didn't go out much as we really just wanted to relax.

This boutique hotel is tucked away in one of the small inlets along the Angra coast a little ways past the port of the same name. The hotel is beautifully landscaped around several small bungalows that are air conditioned. The showers have plenty of hot water and the rooms, though not luxurious are comfortable. It is run by two or three wait staff and the cooks. If the hotel is full the service is super slow, though not for lack of effort. Joel does his best to run the reception, wait on tables and tend bar. The internet is painfully slow and wholly inadequate. WIFI is only available in and around the reception area. It is best if you have your own transportation as the hotel is relatively isolated but there is frequent bus transportation just outside of the hotel. A wonderful place to relax and enjoy the beautiful tropical landscape and beach. Lastly, bring plenty of insect repellent.

A wonderful little facility to relax at on a beautiful beach in a fairly quiet seaside residential community. Of the dozen or so residences on this beach, this is the only hotel. Many of the rooms are separate cottages. They are spacious and clean and well maintained. The hotel has a pool, spa, hot tub, restaurant, and large patio area at the beach. For those that want to explore, shop, etc., the City of Angra Dos Reis is just a few miles back, as well as little beach communities further down the road.

Ended a six week trip of South America with a week's rest and relaxation at the Pousada before going home to the UK. What a gem. The trip by Costa Verde bus from Rio takes about 3 hours and once we arrived we hardly left the Pousada as it was so relaxing and such a pleasant environment. The accommodation is roomy and pleasantly decorated. There are only nine rooms so it never feels busy. The private beach is small but well kept. The Pousada has beach equipment including umbrellas, chairs and kayaks. There are also plenty of seats and 5 loungers on the decking area overlooking the sea. There is a sauna and small pool and a very small fitness room if you feel so inclined. The staff are great and the service either around the decking area, the restaurant or the reception is first class. We had only a tiny amount of Portuguese and they had no English but we were well looked after utilising simple phrases, sign language and online dictionaries. The restaurant is an absolute gem. A limited menu but nevertheless all the food is excellent quality and nothing disappointed us. Breakfast was really good every day and they were happy to cook eggs however we ordered them. The fruit was delicious. WIFI is restricted to the reception area only unfortunately. There are many boat trips to the islands that can be arranged (we went on a trip with other holiday makers from the Pousada and would recommend) and various other beaches in the vicinity if you want to explore. Angra itself is not particularly attractive and I would not suggest that this is an evening venue.

The Pousada Da Figueira is a unique and wonderful place - not just a hotel, but an experience. The owners of the hotel have focused on the details, everything from decoration to wonderful food and full breakfast. The rooms are spotlessly clean, and this little secret nestles amidst the tropical forest and opens onto the splendour of a private beach - a world of itself. Excellent service and friendly staff. The Pousada Da Figueira is tucked away within the hills surrounding the nearby town of Angra, yet when you are here you don't need to go anywhere. Just bring a bathing suit and corkscrew!

We spent a few days in Rio de Janeiro this December and then wanted to leave the urban setting to discover some of the beautiful waterfront settings along the coast. We headed to Paraty and decided to stop along the way at this piece of Paradise, the Pousada da Figueira and were quite satisfied. It is isolated down a small dirt road, far away from anybody. It is a small privately owned home and property and we had a room facing the water and a botanical garden from a dream. There was only one other couple there at the same time so we had the whole place to ourselves, including a beautiful private beach, great dining room with personalized custom service, a jacuzzi, and a chance to do a few boating trips around the beautiful islands. It was truly a unique place to be and I would return....

This Pousada as everything that it takes to be a perfect place, but it isn't... Almost there, but not yet. The location is perfect, just one step from the beach and in the middle of a "tropical forest", 15-20 minutes away from the center. The decoration is beatifull and the breakfast... PERFECT! The front desk ladie is very helpfull and can answer all your questions (restaurants, buses, taxis, boat tours, etc...). You can really relax in this place but I felt that there is something missing... Maybe is just my miss preception... One small problem: no internet in the room. There is one PC in the lobby but the internet is too slow! We'll be back, for sure!

I've been there 5 years ago when I started to date my girlfriend (wife now) and we loved that place. At that time we just slept in the room, stayed on the beach, and went into town. We didn't utilize all of the amenities of the B&B. We stayed at the main house of the B&B. We loved it so much that we decided to come back. I didn't get a good look at the place because we only stayed there 2 nights. This time I went there with my wife, her mother, and her aunts, so we ended up staying in the little house behind the main house as it had a suite with 2 room plus another adjacent room. This time around we spent most of the time at the B&B and the beach. There was 4 other people with a little boy there besides our group, so the place was fairly deserted. Keep in mind we went in off season and stayed there for 5 days. Here are positive things about the place: * Best location - on the beach, clear water, with a little bay. Fairly easy access from the twisty mountain road, down a hill with plenty of parking inside B&B. * Beautiful surroundings - place has wonderful tropical garden that is well kept. * Great Amenities that we used - pool (altough little cold, but agian this it fall in Brazil); hot tub; kayaks; small gym (my wife used the gym, I sat in the hot tub with a beer); beach chairs set up by the staff every morning; bar (opens at noon); minibar in the room with drinks that were fairly priced (R$3 for beer or coke; water was R$2, I think). * Friendly staff - at the b&b 24hrs - the guy that takes care of the place lives up the hill by the entrance. Told us to come see him at any time. * Well decorated and clean rooms with clean towels and sheets (important for me). * Decent price for what you get. * Great breakfast - I've been to many B&Bs and this place had an excellent breakfast. I loved the coffee they make - very strong. * Location - did I say it's on the beach? * Great mouqeca for dinner (I had it twice) ... plus other things that I might have forgotten. Now for the bad: * Bathroom needed work - loose faucet and toilet - but that can be easily fixed. I forgot to tell the staff. * Restaurant was expensive (as others pointed out), but the food was good. * Staff did not know much about restaurants in town - we could not find this little restaurant that we found 5 years ago when we went there. * There was a dog there - although friendly dog, it was running around the place, and my wife does not like to be around dogs. * I did not like time limits placed on hot tub (from 5-8), oh and the water took an hour or more to heat up. No big deal, but I want it now :). We definately would go back again.

We stayed here for our days and found this to be a very good pousada. The food is very good, breakfast is excellent, the staff is very friendly. It is a good place to stay with your family but better with a car because taxis exagerate on the price (ie Steal) and you tend to feel locked in after a couple of days. We went for lunch at the Pestana resort in Angra and found the pousada to be much nicer because of the lovely beach, friendly atmosphere and authenticity of the architecture/gardens. It's a quiet, charming, relaxed pousada, with good taste and polite friendly staff. Rooms are big. We also used the living room for games in the evening. There is a children's corner for cooking/heating food for babies. We saw lots of nature and even some exotic animals. :-) There is no internet access for guests but the staff lets you use their computer w/ internet access, although really slow. What is not so good: the rooms are nicely decorated but need upgrading, specially the bathrooms/closets; beach towels are lended but really old probably left from other costumers; somethings weren't working; you can't really use the pool because it is in a very shadowed area and it gets too cold (no sun, water very cold, not pleasant to be in deck chairs, too small); food gets to be a bit expensive and there is no real kitchen and dining options are far. But overall, it's a good experience and I would come back and recommend to friends.
