This is a very small pension right in from of the sea - the owners are very friendly and make the best for you to feel comfortable.
The room had a great view, air conditioning, private bathroom and a cosy decoration.
The breakfast is really homemade with natural juices, fresh fruit and cakes.
It is located in the village close to everything but not noisy at all.
They accept VISA.

It do recommend this place to all kinds of couples (I am not sure if they have facilities for children but i didn't see any while we were there)

My husband and i booked Mara et Claude for 5 nights and ended up staying for 11 it was so wonderful. Claude is a lovely and friendly man, although he cannot speak a word of english so we communicated via google translate on our laptop! (He is French)
The rooms at the front with the balconey are absolutely a must, we had that room for the first 5 nights then we moved to a back room downstairs which was more modern but no view, so it really is worth staying at the front.
I still miss the breakfasts! So much to eat and the juices were lovely and view even better. As we were on the island for so long we really did see all the other places to stay and we were so happy that we picked Mara Et Claude as its by far the best spot.
The cleaners do a great job everyday, there were quite a few power cuts due to storms and the internet only really worked in the morning, but i think thats an issue on the whole island. It was a very romantic place to stay.

One of the most beautiful vacations we had, And staying at Mara E Claude pousada had a lot to do with that.
Claude is wonderful! Great man, and very helpful.
We took the room with see view which was extremely beautiful.
Waking and sleeping to the sound of the quiet sea.
The room was nice and warm.
The breakfast was good and unique. And the place well designed and lovely.
The location is great!

We enjoyed every minute there and wished we could stay longer.

We recommend everyone who visit Ilha grande to stay there.

Thanks Claude for a unique vacation.

Had an oceanview room which was probably the only "saving grace." If you can't get an oceanview room then I think you could do better. When you first walk in to the pousada, it REEKS of cigarette smoke. The room was very small with very basic furnishings. We only stayed 2 nights so it was fine for us but I was expected much better based on the reviews.
Was disappointed that you couldn't really use the beach in front of the room -- the water was filthy and dirty. There are other beaches on the island but I had assumed we could swim in the water right in front of the pousada -- so that was a little disappointing.

This cute guesthouse is located directly on the beach. I was staying alone, so was given a small room towards the back of the building. Nevertheless it was comfortable.
Mara e Claude are hospitable and friendly. The guesthouse has a breakfast area overlooking the beach. It's such a lovely way to start your day.
I'm hoping I will get a chance to go to Ilha Grande again and would like to stay at this Pousada.

Lovely small posada located right on the beach. The upstairs beachfront rooms look out over the water, and there is a small garden courtyard at the front for breakfast and relaxing. Rooms are small and simple, but very charming - driftwood furniture, lots of white. Breakfast is fantastic - array of cheeses, meats, breads, with fresh juice and eggs cooked to order. The location is great - just a few hundred metres away from the boat jetty and main town which gives a peaceful secluded atmosphere, while still being only minutes from restaurants and services. Strongly recommend getting the beachfront rooms, which have a small balcony and hammock for watching the waves.

Me Eva (60 yrs) was travelling with my mochilero son Amit (24years) during the month of April through Argentina, Uruguay and Brasil. We were in Ilha from 17.4.13 till 22.4.13 .This place was perfect, I can give them only compliments, it was the best place: starting with the location and far from noise but still close to the centre and facing sea.
The interior design with white and light blue, celeste. Our clean sea view room had a balcony with hammock, which we enjoyed very much. Mara and Claude are so friendly and they do all with great heart, like family.
The breakfast was more than perfect, I already miss it. We loved the special home made baked breads and cakes, and french specialities Mara prepare every day, the coffee is amazing and the service excellent. During our stay we passed several Posadas but this one is the BEST for us! If We can't wait to go again!

We were on the island in november 2012 and didnt make any reservation before hand since the communication seemed to be quite difficult as nobody really speaks english. Once we got on the island the pousada was one of the first we went in and booked it right away. Mara and CLaude are just the cutest couple, the house and the rooms are decorated with such charm, taste and heart feeling...we just loved it. An the breakfast...finally European sense for how a proper breakfast should be. Mara baked fresh bread and french specialities every day, the coffee is amazing and the service excellent. During our stay we passed many pousadas but really think that Mary y Claude are the best choice on the island as located directly on the beach and close to everything. Go ahead and book it, dont hesitate you will not find something better!

We stayed here for 3 nights in the Christmas period. It's such a nice place, on a quiet location but close to Ilha Grande's 'action' (5 min walk) with incredibly friendly owners! Unfortunately we booked quite late so were unable to get a sea view room. Instead, we had a small room in the annex with a view of the garden. The room was clean and suited our needs, the only problem was that we had to much luggage to actually fit comfortably in the room.
The only things I would change are the breakfast time (8 to 9:30 AM) and the checkout time (11 AM).
I would definately stay here again but would book sooner in order to get a bigger sea-view room!

We stayed here for 3 nights. We had one room with a sea views and a balcony with hammock and one room with a view of the small garden. The rooms were very clean and comfortable. The sea view room had beautiful rustic furniture very in keeping with the sea side theme and the garden room was bright and modern. The rooms were amazing value for money at around £50 per night including breakfast.
The location of the pousada was perfect too, being at the far end of the beach where it was quiet. Mara and Claude were very helpful and friendly and each day gave us advice about the best places to go and how to get about. Neither spoke any English but a mixture of French and Potuguese worked very well.
The breakfast each day was delicious with everything home made including yoghurt, cakes and savoury quiches.
All in all our stay on Ihla Grande was perfect and we can't wait to go again!
