It is an enjoyable 5-hour drive from Rio to this pousada through the Serra da Bocaina National Park ... surprisingly one of the most spectacular road trips in the world that we have ever experienced in our over 40+ years of travel. This lovely boutique property on a tranquil mountain side is only 20 - 30 minutes from downtown Paraty. The 10 bungalows here are rustic amidst a well-maintained lush tropical landscape. Service from their charming staff is excellent. Breakfast is generous. We stayed here in luxury bungalow #8 for almost a week. Averaging about 3+ Mbps, in-house wi-fi is basic - but it is much better than nothing at all. Here in the wilderness, there is no 4G reception with TIM but with our CLARO simcard, we managed to get faint 1 Mbps download speeds on our phone. Pousada Bromélias is a pleasant and understated experience that we thoroughly enjoy and enthusiastically recommend! Stay here in comfort to escape from a crowded world. …
Nice secluded paradise off the beaten path. Well worth the drive. Cacheoera swimming hole on property as well as next door. A big natural one nearby. Great for mid-day trip. Good pool on property. Good room service. Another dining option next door. Nice big private bungalo.
Everything is great in this pousada : the service, the bangalos, the breakfast, the place, the forest, the massage, the spa... Everything ! The team is nice and very helpful. The bangalo is very clean and comes with a terrasse in the middle of the rest. It is so relaxing and filled with positive energies. Higly recommanded !! Nb : the pousada is 20 min away from Paraty, you need a car to get there.
We booked this place expecting a fancy retreat in the forest. We were wrong. Service was mediocre (before we even completed our check-in, the person at the reception tried to peddle some tours to us). The facilities were drab; for example, we had to sit in a bunk bed to watch tv - nothing terribly wrong with that, if the place wasn't advertised and priced as a luxury resort. Breakfast was below standards - no choices, we were brought a few pieces of fruit, some stale bread, cheese, weak coffee and the horrible "requeijão" (an amorphous sticky paste with nothing natural in it). The pousada is not in the "middle in the forest" as they claim, but at the end of a squatters' village at the edge of the forest. Not recommended.
My husband and I decided to celebrate our wedding anniversary somewhere calm and quiet and this was the perfect place. Excellent service, privacy, nature... all together. In the middle of the rain forest, rustic chalets give the place a charming touch. Getting there is the tough bit, given that the slopes are very steep and there is no lighting in the neighborhood, just nature. I would recommend this hotel if your intention is not to leave the venue. There is plenty to do, pool, beauty treatments, massages, water falls... the restaurant is quite nice as well. And for our surprise there is a great French restaurant 5 min walking distance - Le Gite d'Indaiatiba!
