It starts at the front desk, the staff treats you like you're asking to stay there as a favor. The rooms are small and smell like mold, not very clean also. The quality of what is served on the breakfast buffet is very poor, specially the juices. It's located on a busy street and there isn't any kind of noise...

It was a business trip. Hotel has small but clean rooms. I was not happy with the size of the rooms. Rooms have noise from the road. The only advantage was that it was closer to the city center and that the supermarkets were closer to this place. Other than that I could not find any thing good. TV was...

I`ve been at Monte Alegre for two weeks - went to Rio to work. The hotel is nice, the food is good. The wifi internet access is very poor on some rooms but ok on others appartments. As a cautios person I had a net wire with me and the internet connection by cable was ok. The rooms are pretty...

Stay here for 5 days by travel agency when we first visited Rio. It is located in busy street, not very tourist friendly neighborhood and maybe kind of noisy in Centro. Easy access for daily needs, like market and restaurants with great price. Serve with great breakfast. Staffs speak little English but can communicate without problem. Don't book tour or...

Stayed here for 5 nights as part of a carnival package. The hotel is pretty big, and consists of 2 different buildings and has a courtyard with a small pool. Our room was spacious, beds comfy and spotless clean (we were in the "back building"). The reception staff spoke only a little bit of English, but were helpful regarding busses....

Stayed here several times while in Rio as part of my job in tourism. Have to say that I find it very good with friendly staff (not many english speakers amongst them though), great breakfast, a small outdoor pool area and very close to the action if you are in Rio for Carnival. Also, for getting around the city, buses...

Clean and tidy hotel with good sized rooms and all mod-cons. Main downside for us was the noise! Massive air-con unit right outside on our balcony-and wasn't even our unit. Unable to sleep through the noise, staff not really interested and unable to move us. Would have been awful if my husband hadnt found the external off switch....resulted in better...

Just spend 2 weeks at this hotel, and rate it as good. Rooms are very clean, and breakfast is terrific. Staff at desk were a bit reserved and not exactly effusive, but they were polite and efficient. I changed rooms twice (!) first time because my room was too close to rua Monte Alegre, which runs up the side of...

Stayed over New Years a two years back but it deserves a kudos. Lapa is actually a beautiful district and the bars were great fun. We were on a budget and this place was affordable because New Years prices get jacked up as well as most places implementing a 4-5 day mandatory stay. We had only booked part of our...

Avery average hotel in the poorer section of the town. The rooms are very small, and pokey. The cleanliness was good and the staff appeared to be friendly. The quality of the food served at breakfast was decent buffet with a lot of choices in cereal, fresh fruits, cheese and eggs. There is a pool too which is outdoors. Its...
