We stayed here for several days when we arrived in Rio looking for a private double & finding so many other hostels to be either fully booked or very expensive. Finding this little 'muse' full of hostels was a stroke of luck although, many of them were not available for the length of time we wanted to stay. Then we...

The hostel Ipanema Girl is highly recommendable: For starters, it is directly next to the Ipanema beach which is considered one of the most beautiful in Rio. It offers good breakfast, a huge lounge with motto evenings where you can (for example) get a very good dinner for about 7-9 €, "Caipirinha all you can drink" for 9€ and so...

- The room smelled very much like pee. - There was no breakfast like all the other places we stayed in. - Staff-lady was a little weird and when we were leaving, she got us taxies that we had to pay extra money! - They asked more money for some trips than other places. + free wi-fi and possibility to...

I stayed here for a few days in the winter (May). It's basically a bunch of little houses located in a small alley, and it actually looks quite nice when you first walk in. The rooms vary from terrible to pretty good. Make sure you check out the buildings and the rooms. The first 3 days, I stayed in the...

Really didn't think much of this place. The woman who runs it is bonkers and wasn't very friendly towards us. The room was tiny and unbearably hot. There was no toilet roll in the bathroom in our room and the bottom bunk of 3 in the room was stained and filthy. The location however of the hostel is great and...

It is lucky that we were such a big group of 80 people and that it was only friends staying at the hostel during the time. I do not imagine how would it be possible to stay in this hostel, where you do not get a key for your room or for the building, have no space to put your...

First impression, this place smells very much like pee. 2nd impression, this place smells like pee and poo. There was hardly any cleaning done in our room for the whole week we stayed there. The hostess claimed there would be breakfast but she screwed us over. The rooms were VERY cramped and there were almost no surfaces to put stuff...

Stayed for carnival 2011. Pros are the location, sure walk to ipanema beach. The courtyard is home to other hostels, so it's communal and safe feeling and very sociable. Cons it's a "drop your back"hole to be frank. Don't know how it is now, but it was very poor back then. Breakfast was jail tackle,Toilets not working, lack of toilet...

“Make sure you check the rooms first. DO NOT pick the building at the very end on the right (Going into the alley, the furthest house on the right). A good call would be the third or fourth building on your right. Some buildings/rooms are much cleaner than others.”
