Stayed here in June 2014 during the World Cup. I won't ever be coming back, although it was ok enough given teh high prices during the tournament. Is situated on a nice street in Flamengo, close to the metro and domestic airport. Hotel is pretty basic and 3* at best...decor in the rooms came straght from the 1970s, although it...

Hotel is located a block from the beach. Flamengo Beach isn't Copa to Ipanema, but a great place for sunning and walking. Hotel is close to shopping. Superior rooms are sizable with big screen TV, safe, king sized beds, refrigerator. There are more modest rooms without windows for less money. Hotel is pricey but still less than ones in Copa...

POSITIVE: Staff helpful and courteous. Breakfast good, with fruit and fresh juices. NEGATIVE: The hotel is old and expensive for what it offers (European price, but a 3rd world hotel). Rooms with little comfort. Old and uncomfortable beds and furnitures. Some rooms are not accessible by elevator. CONCLUSION: AVOID.

Lousy hotel, horrible rooms and unpleasant staff. And rooms over 90 euros per night. This is how ridiculous the hotel prices are in Rio.

This is not a great hotel, but it's OK for the price. Keep in mind that some rooms are pretty good, others are not good at all. I stayed in one of the rooms facing the back. The room was big, fairly well kept, good AC, a 32" flat screen TV, a comfortable queen size bed, good bathroom. As usual...

I was in Rio to work for 3 days and the travel agency booked this hotel for me. After a day of meetings, expecting to lay down and rest, they put me in a room with NO WINDOWS. That´s it, no windows, at all. There was a whole on the wall, there was a glass windown on it, but instead...

We stayed at the Mengo Palace Hotel for the New Years celebration for 2011. The accommodation prices in Rio are over inflated during this period. This hotel promised the best value, however, one thing to bear in mind - some of the double rooms do not have any natural daylight, or windows looking out to the outside. (A nightmare for...

Mengo Palace was great. My husband and I chose Mengo Palace based on other reviews on Trip Advisor and stayed there for 4 nights. The service was excellent, they offer free breakfast and rooms were clean and quiet. As soon as we got there they found someone who spoke English to assist us and while we were waiting for our...
