We found Casa da Carmem e do Fernando comfortable for a family of 5 and conveniently located, 15 minutes uphill walk from Gloria and 10 minute walk up to Sta. Teresa. The decor is eclectic and fun, the view marvelous, breakfast more than adequate, the owners charming.

It was a marvellous stay. Just magic. The poussada is perfctly located in Santa teresa. It has clean, beautiful rooms, a fantastic terrace with an amazing view of Rio and a great living room all decorated with great taste. The owner Fernando, who is an artist, can tell you stories about Rio and introdcue you to both the city and...

Near to Gloria and Santa Theresa you find this little gems in the hills and montains of Rio. Beautyful house with a gorgeous view over Rio, super personal style, bohemian, laid back. Best breakfast and sweet personnel. GO THERE if you are looking for a unique stay in Rio.

This is a very nice B&B in Santa Theresa. I was in the small room on top (3rd floor?) which has its own balcony with a great view over Rio de Janeiro. The stairs were pretty tight but the room was good. There is a private bathroom at the bottom of the stairs. The breakfast was delicious and the hosts...

This is a lovely B&B in a calm (and secure) location: very friendly staff speaking perfectly English, cozy and clean rooms (although quite small), nice terrace with a little pool to relax after your sight-seeing tour and with a great view on the city. The breakfast was delicious. The staff organized our transfer from/to the airport. The hotel is centrally...

This is a really nice place to stay in Rio. The room was small enough but there was a very cool sitting room upstairs with a big open window which had a great view of the new part of the city. The only drawback of the place is that it is situated on a hill so there is a bit...

I stayed in this Casa for 3 nights in early May 2012. As a single female traveller it was just the right kind of place to stay. Evelina on reception spoke fluent English and was really kind and helpful. I didn't see much of Carmen or Fernando. My room was tiny and under the terrace but it was nice and...

We stayed a couple of days in the Casa da Carmen e do Fernando. We really enjoyed this house, its ambience and its vibe. The view is wonderful. The food is delicious. The art on the walls is really something. There's always good music in the Casa. Very romantic stay overall.

Staying in Santa Teresa

Neighbourhood Profile
Santa Teresa
Santa Teresa is a bohemian enclave hosting many local artists’ studios. The narrow, winding streets of this neighbourhood were revitalised years ago, and visitors can now stroll through this area to view magnificent mansions dating back to the late 19th and early 20th century. A highlight not miss: Museu Chacará do Céu, a former mansion turned museum which houses works by prominent Brazilian modern artists.
