The good - good location near Gloria station, free WiFi, and efficient front desk. The bad - noise, below average breakfast, tiny bathroom, and slow housekeeping. If you return to your room before 6 p.m., your room may not be cleaned. That is just unacceptable. But I must say something about the tiny bathroom. After reading the reviews, I thought...

I found this hotel online and was attracted to the price and the fact that it was very close to the Gloria subway station. The staff were so friendly and really went out of their way to give advice on places to visit etc. Basic rooms but very clean and in a nice quiet area.

I have not much to add to previous reviews of this hotel as I quite agree with all of them. The pros of this hotel are the price, the staff very helpful and competent and the position (even if probably there are better surroundings in other parts of Rio but the fast Rio subway is very near). Also rooms quality...

Hotel Monte Castelo is nice/cheap place to stay in expensive Rio. It's in Glória neighborhood with plenty public transportation to Ipanema, Copacabana, Leblon etc. and a walking distance to vibrant Lapa nightlife and it seems to be quite safe and quiet. Taxi are also very cheap to/from Santos Dummond Airport, it's about BRL15 (from where you can take an executive...

We stayed for 4 nights in this hotel. The location is very central - only 200m from the Gloria Metro. This means that you can easily reach the central part of the city as well as some of the beaches. It is also within walking distance (although uphill) of the major tourist places in Santa Theresa. This budget hotel is...

The hotel was easy to find from the nearby metro stop. We found the neighborhood to be fine even for walking around at night. There is a lot going on in the area; plenty of food stores, restaurants, and activity. Our room was a decent size, and had a comfortable bed. The bathroom was extremely narrow, however. I had to...

Small room and very small bathroom, you just about have to sit on the toilet to close the door - and I am not saying that because I have a large bottom.  Honestly.  The shower itself is fine though.  Close to Gloria metro, useful to get to Copacabana and Ipanema, metro is safe and easy way to get around (get...

Me and my friend rented a twin room for 2 nights, and the first impression was that we were walking in a hostel. Not a big issue then, as the location is great - very central in a relatively safe area and walking distances from the metro, Lapa and Santa Tereza. The main issue here is the lack of cleanliness...

I stayed at this hotel for two nights while in Rio. It is in a sidestreet and there is not so much traffic. The surrounding area was ok, with some shops a few restaurants. Transport is easy to find, but also easy to walk to downtown (20 mins) as well as the beaches. Gloria subway station is only 5 mins...
