Stayed there for nearly 2 weeks during the World Cup, Place is great, clean ,comfy and friendly. Is in a pacified Favella and has police presence all the time but not needed as all locals are friendly and fun. About 10 minutes to beaches, plenty of buses passing by to get you into Leblon, Ipanema,Copacabana. Between Rafa and Gabi, Luis...

Vidigalbergue Hostel is a TRAVELER's dream. If you are the type that wants to really get to know Rio and can appreciate a good value then this hostel is for you. The place is safe and the staff are always there to answer any questions that you may have. The only complaint that I have is that the men's bathroom...

I was excited to stay here after reading such great reviews but man were we let down. Our beds had bugs all over them. Ants I think. The staff seemed only interested in entertaining themselves, which is fine but again one of the reviews I read said that the staff were great with getting the guests involved with exploring the...

Sorry despite the other glowing reviews I can only give it an average and that was because the staff really helped me out and the view was great. Other than that Im glad I only stayed a night. Upside - Close to beaches and bus stop. Also very cheap and enjoyed the breakfast Downside - Noisy traffic (you need to...

My friend and I stayed here a couple of days. We moved hostels to this one since the other one got more expensive. We were not expecting such a good time. Not only did we have the best view in Rio, we had an excellent breakfast, excellent company (Kelly is a superstar, we absolutely loved her!). The Argentinian owner of...

This hostel came as a recommendation from someone we met in Ilha Grande, which makes our bad experience of the hostel staff even more disappointing. We found them to be unhelpful with knowledge about tours and activities that they did not directly have a financial interest in promoting. The only place they recommended we ate at was a bar owned...

+ The hostel is located near the Vidigal favela. Don't worry, its a pretty quiet favela (pacified). Perfect to dive into the favela experience without having to go in any favela tour. Some simple restaurants and parties in the areas. + 20mns away (walking) from Leblon beach + direct buses to the airport + awesome view from the window -...

I stayed here over Easter weekend when it was particularly busy. There was a really great atmosphere and very helpful staff. The location is slightly out of the main area of Copacababa/Ipanema etc, but we definitely got great value for money as a result, and the transport links are excellent. The favela is probably safer than the rest of Rio,...
