I spent a week at this hotel while attending a conference. It was built in 1950 as part of the World Cup festivities so it is certainly not new! However, it has been well maintained and the rooms have been updated and although simple and basic are comfortable. Do not expect luxury but basic comfort. My room had a lovely...

A big hotel next to Praia de Flamengo, quiet and a bit old fashioned with some toileteries rarely seen in other hotels. If you are lucky you can get a room with a view of Christ Redemptor and Pao de Azucar (Sugar Loaf). There is also a nice park across the street and very busy Catete street near by. Staff...

We stayed in this hotel for the end of a working trip, moving into the beginning of holiday. Flamengo is in a great location, with easy access to key destinations like Christ the Redeemer, Copacabana, Central Rio and the Rodoviaria bus station. The hotel itself is 5 minutes from the beach, with a bridge offering easy crossing of a busy...

The hotel is close to Flamengo beach and the Presidential Palace (now a museum). Great to walk to the beach and explore around the area. Taxi is easy to get and short trips take you to The Museum of Tomorrow, Sugar Loaf, Christ the Redeemer, Copocabana Beach and so much more. Hotel had a good buffet breakfast, live music in...

Stayed at this hotel for one night during carnival. Reasonably priced and a great location for getting to and from the sambadrome. Hotel was clean and staff were friendly. A little delay on the room being ready for us but carnival is a pretty busy time for all hotels. Good location very close to the beach.

I like the Novo Mundo Hotel, because they have an old fashion design (something between 40 or 50 decades) but with great charm. The location is very good, near central Rio, near Botafogo and copacabana. The hotel is near historical places such Gloria church, Catete Palace Museum (in front!). The Catete Palace have a beatiful garden. The accomodation is clean...

Stayed 5 nights in this hotel during the New Year season 2015-16 when Rio really fills up and rates are ridiculously high. Decent hotel. Rooms are a bit old and worn down. Very good shower strength (which is very important to me) but water kept seeping outside the shower door which filled the floor with water; also shower water didn’t...

For the price we paid, it's a really old fashioned hotel which has a good location and sights but awful accommodation/facilities. The room seems like a 2/3 stars one. WiFi, not even acceptable working in the room. The reserved room was a double bed and the given one was a twin bed. No solution was given at the lobby... Air...

This property is a well located hotel near some historical places in Rio, such as the Gloria Church, a typical example of the XVII Century architeture and the Catete Palace, where the legendary former president of Brazil Getulio Vargas committed suicide. Actually I faced the palace garden from my room, as well as the Sugar Loaf. I believe that those...

At one time, this was a grand hotel. Now, from the elevators to the bathrooms, she isn't the fresh young beauty once she was. Still, the views and location are first rate. And the breakfast is good. My only problem: noise. I had a higher floor room with great views of Christ the Redeemer, Sugar Loaf, and the magnificent park...
