I loved my stay at Meiai. The hostel was clean and decent and the beds were comfortable. The area of Botafogo has everything you need to make your stay in Rio one that you won't forget. 100% recommended!

I had a wonderful stay here. Everyone was so friendly and willing to help. I came alone but made some nice friends. All of the hostel is well cleaned and tidy. Had a bar, restaurant, terrace and a beautiful rooftop. I felt just like home.

I stayed at Meiai last year. The staff is amazing - so helpful and supportive. The rooms are very clean and have AC. The atmosphere is very chill. You will find a nice mixture of Brazilian ppl and world travelers. They have a restaurant that offers good food and draft beer. However, the essence of this hostel is the staff...

Arrived late evening and staff were welcoming, friendly and helpful. The beds were clean and the dorms were quiet. Shower rooms spacious and clean, but hot, obviously, and their towel weren't the best. I'd recommend you use your own. Stored my money and passport in a locked drawer under the bed- no problems there at all. A computer available to...

I usually do not choose to stay in hostels but my girlfriend had shown me a few pictures of this place when we were planning our holiday in Brazil and I decided to give it a try as it looked like a very nice place and offered private rooms with en suite. I must say I was pleasantly surprised when...

I ve passed a real good time in Meiai. It s well cleaned and personals are really nice. I sleep really well in this place (that s a real good point) As there is a restaurant, we can t cook, that s the pity... but they give you water want you need and stock for you things in the fridge....

Really enjoyed our stay at this hostel during carnivale. Staff were extremely friendly and went above and beyond to help, especially Caroline. Many bathrooms so you don't have to wait long for a shower or to use the toilet, and have private bathrooms if preferred. Great location with many restaurants around, and supermarkets.

Staying in Botafogo

Neighbourhood Profile
Botafogo
In recent years, Botafogo has become one of the hottest neighbourhoods in Rio. It hosts many modern restaurants with contemporary food and many venues to listen to rock and electronic music. Its numerous bars and pubs make this area a great choice for anyone interested in a great nightlife experience - in fact, some bars in the area are open all night. Casa Daros, an art museum that showcases amazing artists from Latin America, is a must see located in a historical building in Botafogo.
