Convenient location, 2 blocks from Copacabana, on a busy street with many shops, stores, restaurants. The room was big, clean and reasonably quiet. The breakfast was good. On the negative side: the hotel immediately faces a park, with homeless people sleeping in and around it. The staff was terrible at the front desk, especially the afternoon men. None seemed too happy...

Centrally located and a great bang for your buck, we checked into this place during Carnaval and were so happy we did. From the moment we arrived we were greeted by Nevena at the front desk, this multilingual angel was INCREDIBLE (GM I SAY A RAISE/BONUS IS IN ORDER FOR HER). She gave us a room on the highest floor...

Staying here and the front desk people are very unhelpful. We wanted to book a Samba show and they just gave us the brochure and told us to do it ourselves. We also needed some help with our airplane flight and they just pointed us to the internet. Not pleased

Pretty good hotel - it was just supppppperr busy when we were there which is obviously not their fault but it just took a long time to do, well, anything! Breakfast was really good, and the tiny pool upstairs was nice and had a great view of christ redeemer....the rooms were neat, clean and spacious. The hotel itself is also...

Stayed in this hotel in December 2013. The location is really excellent. Only 1 block to Copacobana beach, and a 3 minute walk to the subway. The rooms are reasonable - they're a little bit outdated but are very comfortable nontheless. The staff have been absolutely fantastic. They helped with tours, directions, and were very friendly and helpful at all...

I'm a local but sometimes have to move in to a hotel for business reasons - The Mar Palace seems to be the very best value for money on the EXTRMELY EXPENSIVE Zona Sul - the South part of Rio. It is just a few bucks more than an Ibis (considering you know the French low budget chain) with lots...

We stayed for 5 days in Mar Palace, staff was always helpful with directions and tips. The location is great you are literally 2 streets (2min walk) from copacabana beach and around the hotel there are lots of bus stops and shops. Breakfast was also great with varied fruits bread juices. The rooms were good. Worth going up to the...

If you want to enjoy the beach, this is the hotel because of its location, less than one minute from Copacabana white sands. It is definitely not at the level of a 4 star hotel however staff are excellent and helpful especially Anna and Nevena who always have good tips for a city tour. Rooms need upgrade. Breakfast is generous...

This hotel is in a good location, not far from the beach and close to the metro, buses, internet cafes and restaurants. Our room was very spacious and was kept nice and clean. My friend and I had a double bed and a single bed to choose from, a table and chairs and a desk. On the whole most of...

The location is perfect! (Close to the beach, Metro station and restaurants.) We really enjoyed the breakfast buffet with lots of fruits, chocolate cake and breads. Lobby has a computer with a printer so you can print your tickets to go to the Corcovado and very friendly front desk staff - specially Werner. The only minor issue was: Wi-Fi was...

Staying in Copacabana

Neighbourhood Profile
Copacabana
The rowdy Copacabana is one of the most traditional and old areas from Rio de Janeiro. This neighbourhood is a blend of Brazilian soul - crowded, rowdy and traditional. This neighbourhood has a bit of everything: bars with music, pubs, street fairs, chaotic streets, and many shops. All these things and more live side-by-side. There are options for all price points and tastes. However, the most powerful draw in Copacabana is still the fantastic view of the coast and the incredible beaches.
