Good location to visit Sugar Loaf mountain. Basic rooms with internal windows, but clean and a good breakfast. Reception staff spoke English and were very helpful. Central location in Botafogo, near beach (although no swimming) and bus stops- can travel around other parts easily using buses.

Booked a room in advance, got an internet rate. Our group grew as we were travelling and we asked to change the reservation and add a second room. I suppose that caused the front desk staff to see dollar signs, as they charged us almost DOUBLE (!) the rate of the original room. Complaining didn't help much, neither did asking...

I would definitely recommend the private room with bathroom. The shared bathroom was not as clean. Our rooms were very clean and very comfortable. It has a nice bar area which is great to utilize. We did have to pay to store our bags and use their shower after we checked out, which isn't common for a lot of hostels...

Our double room was dirty on arrival. The toilet was full of brown water and and bin was full of used toilet paper. After speaking to a member of staff at the desk we were placed in a room with bunk beds because the cleaning staff were not around. The electric shower did not work so we had cold showers....

Our private room with bathroom was clean, and the location was great. It was next to the metro, which made getting to Copacabana a 15 proposition, and it was around the corner from a great churrascaria. Staff were very nice.

We very much enjoyed our stay here, the staff were very friendly, helped organise trips for us and recommended places to eat and visit. The hostel was very clean and well maintained and we felt quite safe walking around the area. There were many places to eat nearby and a good shopping centre, also the metro was close and buses...

The location is great, very close to Botafogo metro station. You are in 15min in Copacabana/Ipanema by metro and also in 10min in the center taking the other direction. There is supermarket close by and many restaurants/bars around Botafogo, so also lively in the evening. The staff was very friendly, helpful, and always in a good mood. Internet was working...

Good location next to 2 big shoppingcenters, very friendly and extremly helpful staff. We had a room booked only for two. No windows, a bit noisy in the night but ideal for a short stay and sightseeing in rio

Not sure why so many negative reviews here ESPECIALLY the ones claiming the staff aren't helpful/interested (can only assume this is down to the character and nature of the individuals posting here themselves, and not the staff). We found COMPLETELY the contrary - in fact, the staff here (all of them and there were at least 5 different guys and...

We know why so many bad reviews here about us. The explanation is as follows: by the end of 2007 brazilian people starts to make bookings at hostels, which we as brazilians, in fact, are not used to go. We are used to go to hotels where you can find your own bathroom and a variety of ammenities. Of course...
