Went with a friend to spend a few days in Rio and found the accommodations and friendly service from Teressa and the staff really good! Our room was roomy, light, comfortable and clean and the breakfast was scrumptious! One morning at breakfast we saw 3 Toulcans fly by! The view is so lovely and serene and it was a pleasure...

Teresa is a wonderful hostess! She made arrangements to have our 2 night stay in Rio de Janeiro very informative and comfortable, from being met at the airport to arranging a city tour, and taxi to our cruise ship. The views from this B&B are fantastic, and definitely a good place to stay in Rio!

Originally I had only planned to stay 1 night but after the first night I just kept extending. Casa 579 felt like a home away from home. The rooms are large and clean and the views are absolutely amazing!!!! From my room I had a birds eye view of Cristo to one side and Sugar Loaf to the other. I...

Just the place I looked for, small, familiar, bargain price, with a positive atmosphere between lodgers and the people working there. I found it clean, quiet, with a great view of the city, in particualr from the roof (that was not too ready for coffee drinkers in the morning, but the view, the view!! Surrounded by a green garden, on...

I've stayed at Casa 579 twice in the past year. For about 10 days in September 2008 and again for 10 days in February 2009. I originally found it on the Internet and didn't really know much about it. Obviously, I liked it so much the first time that I went back. If you really want to feel like you...

My sister & I couldn’t believe our luck in finding such a gem of a hostel in Rio. In fact, the word hostel doesn’t do Casa 579 justice as it’s more like staying in your own luxury private house (you can imagine the rich & famous living next door!) The rooms are big, clean & not over crowded. Beds comfortable...

A friend and I had a two week stay in Casa 579 over the Christmas and New Year period after a month of travelling through Brazil and couldn't have hoped for more. We stayed in both a private room and the dormitory during our stay and both were amongst the best value accomodation in South America that we've experienced. The...

We stayed at Casa 579 and loved every minute of it. Our room had hammocks on the terrace (and a view of the sugar loaf as you lay in it!) and was great. Everything was very clean and collorful and the staff were great. What made the experience for us was that Teresa, the owner was so helpful and really...

We intended to stay at Casa 579 for only two nights but ended up extending our stay to five nights. After staying in a mixed bag of places throughout our travels it was simply a relief to stay somewhere so welcoming and friendly, and it was a chance to settle in and feel at home. We chose the location because...

We stayed at Casa 579 for 3 nights a couple of weeks ago. Teresa who runs the guest house is a nice lady, who was very helpful and the views from the guest house are wonderful. However, we were not fully happy with our stay. We had a double room, which worked out at around £40 a night and we...

Casa579, Manager at Casa 579, responded to this review

At Casa 579 we pride ourselves on providing a high level of service that has been validated by many extremely positive comments on guest feedback sheets. However it seems in this case we fell short of this standard in some areas and as such we would like to respond to the recent review from guest Doug Short so that future...

Staying in Santa Teresa

Neighbourhood Profile
Santa Teresa
Santa Teresa is a bohemian enclave hosting many local artists’ studios. The narrow, winding streets of this neighbourhood were revitalised years ago, and visitors can now stroll through this area to view magnificent mansions dating back to the late 19th and early 20th century. A highlight not miss: Museu Chacará do Céu, a former mansion turned museum which houses works by prominent Brazilian modern artists.
