The place was perfect for us, away from the beaches and with several very good restaurants just a short walk down the street. Bindu took good care of us, helping arrange taxis and suggesting guides. The breakfasts were fresh and good and relaxing. The bonde train was still not working when we were there, so transport into the center of...

We booked Casa Beleza on the basis of the reviews in trip advisor especially as the hotels on the beaches got such mixed reviews. We were not disappointed and think that this type of B&B is the ideal way of staying in Rio. Bindu provides a very personal and pro-active service, both at the time of booking, before you arrive,...

Casa Beleza is an extraordinary place, stayed there for 4 nights. You have the beauty of the garden, the animals roaming or flying around and the hilly charm of Santa Tereza. The 2 tortoises are hilarious, they seem to enjoy human company. It is a convenient location away from the very centre, and a very pleasant area to stroll if you like...

We stayed for four nights in November, our first stay in Rio. Bindu and Antoine were tireless in helping us to adjust and find our way around Rio and Santa Teresa. Santa Teresa is safe, has good transport to other parts of Rio and has a thriving bar and restaurant scene with lots of live music. We tended to spend...

Casa Beleza was our first stop on our wildlife-viewing adventure around eastern Brazil. We were in the blue Room #3 downstairs, a great value in our opinion with an enormous private bathroom just two steps across the hallway. Animal lovers MUST stay here to meet the pet tortoises, Bob the "watchdog," and a family of white-tufted marmosets that will eat...

Staying in Santa Teresa

Neighbourhood Profile
Santa Teresa
Santa Teresa is a bohemian enclave hosting many local artists’ studios. The narrow, winding streets of this neighbourhood were revitalised years ago, and visitors can now stroll through this area to view magnificent mansions dating back to the late 19th and early 20th century. A highlight not miss: Museu Chacará do Céu, a former mansion turned museum which houses works by prominent Brazilian modern artists.
