The narrow, winding streets of this neighbourhood were revitalised years ago, and visitors can now stroll through this area to view magnificent mansions dating back to the late 19th and early 20th century. A highlight not miss: Museu Chacará do Céu, a former mansion turned museum which houses works by prominent Brazilian modern artists.

You have to take a taxi or you can walk down to Rio de Janeiro (25 min walk downhill) and take the Metro. It's about a 4 block walk from the Metro to Ipanema Beach. Taxis are not that expensive though. Returning to Casa Cool Beans by taxi presents a problem as most we stopped did not know where the address was and asked us to get out of the taxi. Then our wonderful host told us what to tell the taxi and no problem after that. Be sure to ask what to tell the taxi drivers.
